Colour Creations Showcase - Mint Macaron

Hey there! It's Kathryn here, welcoming you back to another Art With Heart Colour Creations Showcase!

AWH Colour Creations Blog Header

I'm kind of disappointed that this week is Mint Macaron, as my gorgeous niece's long awaited wedding is next week and one of her wedding colours is Mint Macaron . . .  so I have been making stuff that I CAN'T SHOW YOU!! Aaaghhhh!!

However, I decided that since none of my family ever looks at my blog, I could pop in a little sneak-peek . . . LOL

Forever Blossoms Mint Macaron Double Zig Zag Card Stampin' Up! using Ornate Labels, and Ornate Borders Dies

Whatever you do, don't tell!

I have been putting together this double Zig Zag fold card using Mint Macaron prints from a couple of different packs of Designer Series Paper, and Soft Sea Foam Card stock.

I've used the Mint Macaron & Gold Foil embossed paper from the Ornate Garden Specialty Designer Series Paper and two other Mint Macaron Copper & Gold Foil embossed sheets from the Gilded Autumn Specialty Paper (in the Aug-Dec Mini catalogue).

I've also used some of my favourite ever fluffy vellum - the Plush Poinsettia Specialty Paper - such a nice luxurious addition to any project.

I've actually not finished the inside yet - it has a secret flap that lifts up so there are two places to write - and I think I need to stamp some more flowers and leaves for that. The stamped images are all from the Forever Blossoms stamp set.

Do you like how nice the Plush Poinsettia vellum looks layered over the top of Mint Macaron cardstock?

Card Making Colour Challenge

Welcome to the Art With Heart Team Blog Hop for October. This month we have a colour challenge for you.

AWHT Colour Challenge (450x180)

So, what did I come up with using those colours??

When I saw the colour selection, I immediately thought of our Project Life Card Collections ( #PLxSU ) and accessory packs.

And given that one of the colours is Mint Macaron which I wore to a recent family wedding, I decided I would (finally) have another play with the Project Life pockets and cards.

2015-10-14 17.11.17 (497x499)

I have used cards from three #PLxSU collections :

  • Moments Like These Card Collection and Accessory Pack
  • Hello Baby Boy Card Collection
  • Hello Baby Girl Card Collection

I have a confession . . . I think Pink Pirouette is a bit of an insipid colour - far too light to stamp with, so when I discovered the Project Life Hello Baby Girl Card Collection contained Blushing Bride instead of Pink Pirouette, the rebellious streak in me fist pumped the air and called "Yeah! Baby!!"

2015-10-14 17.11.27 (495x499)

I have embellished with extra flowers, hearts and stamps from Pictogram Punches and Hello Life stamp sets and I have used two of the #PLxSU stamp sets - Moments Like These and Hello Baby to stamp the wedding date.

As you can see from some of the pockets, they are a little empty - I would like to get a couple more photos printed and pop in just a couple more different snaps from the happy day to fill the spaces - I'm thinking the bouquets and some of the details of the reception.

2015-10-14 17.11.38 (497x499)

And you may have noticed on the first two pages, I also stamped onto the #PLxSU cards using our amazing Alphabet Rotary Stamp, so I could spell out the name of the venue and the bride and grooms names.

I just love how many cards there are to choose from in the Moments Like These, Hello Baby Boy and Hello Baby Girl PL card collections which contain Mint Macaron, Blushing Bride and Watermelon Wonder.

You could be wondering - Okay, where is the Blackberry Bliss??

All of the stamped headings, journalling and matting of a couple of the photos uses Blackberry Bliss. (Yes, I know, depending on what device you're on, it can look like Basic Black instead, but I reassure you, it's our lovely dark purple).

I just love these colours together.

Now, I must let you move on in the blog hop - but before I do, have you heard about the GREAT opportunity to earn more Stampin' products as a party hostess (or get a greater discount on your Stampin' Up! Farewelling My Favourites - Blog Hop

Art with Heart Blog Hop Badge (250x250)Welcome to another Art With Heart team blog hop. You may have come here from Kayleen's blog, or you may be starting here - either way, welcome.

Did you know there are just 13 days left to purchase stamp sets and accessories from the 2014-2015 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue and the 2015 Occasions Mini Catalogue?

Many products that are not carrying over into the new catalogue have been reduced in price and quite a few are sold out already. Today we are focussing on these retiring products because among them are some real favourites, and if you had them on your wishlist, we don't want you to get two weeks down the track and realise you have missed out on them as they are no longer available.

What products have I chosen to take a trip down Memory Lane with today?

Daydream Medallion Stamp Set

Yep, that's the Daydream Medallions Stamp Set from page 70 of the current catalogue, available in Wood Mount or Clear Mount.

And I've teamed it with a stack of left over pieces from one of our very popular kits this past year.

Everyday Occasions kit1 (499x499)
Yep, that's our Everyday Occasions Cardmaking Kit. Enough pieces to make 20 cards. AND a fantastic stamp set included in the set. Have you ever taken close notice?

If you haven't really noticed it, I have to confess to you right now, that I thought this whole kit was worth buying, solely for the stamp set - it's one of the best greeting sets we've had this past year.

2015-05-20 10.33.51 (450x309)

And do you know about the Angel Policy?  If you are selling any handmade cards with stamped images, you must acknowledge the copyright of the company the image came from, so in the case of Stampin' Up!, if you are selling cards made with Stampin' Up! stamps, on the back of the card you must have the Stampin' Up! copyright.

What I totally love about the stamp set in this card kit is it provides a stamp with the copyright image on it! Love that! and it's a cute stamp too!

2015-05-20 10.33.02 (350x189)

So, what have been making with the leftover pieces out of my Everyday Occasions kit, and how did I match them up with Daydream Medallions stamp set?

Well, I decided to finally scrapbook some more of my wedding photos! (Yes, miracles do happen!).

20150520_175752 (499x315)

You can see that I chose two main colours from the kit - Island Indigo and Baked Brown Sugar and mixed and matched them as base sheets. Then I used some of the card bases out of the kit for the main layer on my layouts.

20150520_175852 (450x447)

I picked out Pool Party, Baked Brown Sugar, Island Indigo, Whisper White and shiny silver Glimmer Paper die cuts from the kit to add as headings, journalling tabs and embellishments, and I stamped Daydream Medallions in Crumb Cake and Whisper White to break up the background.

20150520_175813 (443x450)

20150520_175840 (450x448)

20150520_180015 (447x450)

20150520_180102 (448x450)

20150520_175931 (445x450)

Most of these layouts have hidden journalling in the form of a pull out tab behind the photo.

20150520_175913 (140x250)             20150520_175828 (124x250)

20150520_180122 (141x250)          20150520_175951 (136x250)

Did you notice on some of them I have used the stamp "Love" also from the kit, and on the layout with my brother, on the label at the top left, I inked up just the "L" so I had the same font, but hand wrote the rest of the word so I had Laugh.

If you are wondering about the titles - that's Epic Alphabet stamp set - a photopolymer stamp set that is carrying over (yippee!!!). That was a lot of fun to use!.

Alright! Have I inspired you to get in touch with your regular demonstrator and order the Everyday Occasions Cardmaking Kit or the Daydream Medallions stamp set before the 2nd of June? Go and talk to her right now because all the retiring items are only available while stocks last.

Back to the Blog Hop - who are you visiting next? That would be the gorgeous, Jenny Van Dijk.

Beautiful Bridesmaid Thank You Cards

Hey there!

I know! I said I'd be back in a day or two with some bridesmaids cards . . . but I got busy working on my business instead! On Wednesday I had a table at the Women On The Go Expo & Forum at the Karralyka Centre, - a great forum and networking event. This is my stand at the event (you only get half a folding table - so 70cm x 90cm!!).

My stand at Women on the Go Expo (499x319)

I had a fabulous morning - connecting with other women is so important for all of us in these busy times - just to know we are not alone, to be inspired, to share ideas and to encourage one another. It's one of the key things I love about my business - women coming together and being creative together and building each other up.

Anyway, I did promise you some cute bridesmaids cards - these were thank you cards I made for the two bridesmaids at last weekend's lovely wedding, we attended.

Bridesmaid Thanks Stampin Up (1)

The base cards and main front panels are Soft Sky Card, layered with Whisper White. I dug out an old favourite retired stamp set (do you remember what it's called??)

The dress image is stamped in Versamark ink then heat embossed with white Embossing Powder. The embossing on the Soft Sky card is done with the Big Shot, using the Happy Heart Textured Impressions Embossing Folder from our current Occasions Catalogue (Page 9).

After I photographed these, I decided they needed a couple more little soft details added, so here's a close up of the extra details.

Bridesmaid Thanks Stampin Up (4)

I did a tiny bit of extra stamping on the white layer on the inside, and also on the envelope.

Bridesmaid Thanks Stampin Up (3)

The bridesmaids wore a beautiful ice blue lace, so hopefully these were a close enough match!

What have you created recently that you had a specific colour in mind and what occasion was it for?

A Special Wedding Card

Cardmaking for someone really special . . .

Firstly, apologies! I was going to share this card with you on the weekend, however by the time I got through all the preparations for the wedding, then attended the pre-wedding dinner, and the wedding itself, AND the post wedding breakfast . . . I kind of lost time to do any blogging over the weekend!

Now, since everyone loves a happy occasion, and everyone loves a radiant bride, I guess I better start with that! Here is the totally gorgeous bride, with her handsome new husband, the father-of-the-bride and the step-mother-of-the-bride (that would be me!).

20150314_165515-1 (375x490)

The wedding of such a beautiful couple brought with it the challenge of a really unforgettable, special card and with a little inspiration (particularly for the bouquet and lace edge) from this Pin by Cecile Ortiz this is what I came up with . . .

Butterfly basics and Your Perfect Day (3)

Butterfly basics and Your Perfect Day (4)

I've used the beautiful Designer Series Paper - Something Borrowed, along with the Your Perfect Day and Butterfly Basics Stamp sets, all from our Occasions Mini Catalogue. The Blushing Bride Rosette Trim is from the Artisan Embellishment Kit also from the Occasions Catalogue.

The leaves of the fern stamp are all fussy cut - yes, that took me a very long time!

Butterfly basics and Your Perfect Day (1)

Butterfly basics and Your Perfect Day (5)

Because the card was so dimensional, I then had to find a way of keeping it safe without squashing it or tearing off any of the ferns, so the next thing was to make a cute little window sheet box to store it in.

Something Borrowed Stampin Up card box (2)

Something Borrowed Stampin Up card box (1)

The box is 1.5cm deep and rather than cut more ferns, I decided the leaves from the Two-Step Bird Builder Punch might be sturdier.

You can still get all of these products in our current Annual and Occasions Catalogues through until June.

If you'd like a copy of either, please let me know.

I'll be back in a day or two with the super cute thank you cards I made for the bridesmaids.

See you then,

Kathryn
