World Card Making Day

World Card Making Day

To celebrate World Card Making Day, today, I am participating in Kathryn's Blog Hop with my lovely friend Kathryn Mangelsdorf from South Australia. The blog hop participants are Stampin' Up! Demonstrators from all around the world each sharing a card made recently. Kathryn M. has also challenged us to post it within a week to someone special, as we all forget sometimes to send cards that we make and they just sit in a box.

Obviously, I made this card with a very specific person / family in mind, and it's on its way.

Hues of Happiness World Card Making Day

I have featured the Hues of Happiness Designer Series Paper, which is so bright and lovely. The card is sized to fit in a DL envelope, and I have cut the DSP slightly shorter to leave a small rectangle of Basic White on the right hand end, which I have then overlaid with the greeting panel and extra fussy-cut flowers which are popped up on Dimensionals.

Hues of Happiness World Card Making Day 4

The only Melon Mambo coloured ribbon I could find in my stash is a leftover piece from the gorgeous Everything Rosy suite which we had in our range a couple of years ago. It matched so well, and I love the texture, so I decided I was definitely using it.

Hues of Happiness World Card Making Day 3

The sentiment stamps on the front and inside the card are from Peaceful Moments stamp set and are stamped in Melon Mambo ink. I also added a couple of smaller flowers to the inside panel of the card.

Hues of Happiness World Card Making Day 1

Thanks for visiting my blog, I am off to see what the other talented stampers have created for World Card Making Day. I hope you will join me on my journey around the blog hop. And please do leave comments for each participant, we love reading your feedback.

Colour Creations - Fresh Freesia

Welcome to another Art With Heart Team, Colour Creations Blog Hop.

HeaderAs I was collecting items from my stash to make my project this week, I knew I would be watching the Queen's funeral as I created. And it was kind of fitting that this week's colour is a beautiful pastel shade which she most definitely wore in her usual style.

Queen-Elizabeth-II

This week, I am celebrating a wonderful life, well lived . . . .  and the gorgeous colour, Fresh Freesia.

I thought about my memories of Her Majesty, and what would be a fitting style of card project that I would enjoy making, thinking of her and creating while watching the amazing funeral coverage on BBC.

I settled on the Tea Boutique Suite of products, because in my family, we always talked about popping in to have a cup of tea with "Aunty Betty".

Tea Boutique Fresh Freesia

When it came time to choose a green for the foliage, I could only select Parakeet Party - again in honor of Her Majesty and her wonderful colour choices. She wore this stunning ensemble for Harry & Meghan's wedding, and it came with her usual thoughtfulness towards the meaning and messages given by colour choices.

Parakeet Party

My first card is a very simple card - a layer of the lovely Tea Boutique Designer Series Paper for the background, overlaid on the left with the sparkly Metallic Mesh Ribbon. Then a panel cut with the Stitched Rectangle Dies, stamped with the foliage and small flowers. A separate tea cup stamped and die-cut and popped up on Dimensionals over the base of the foliage.

Tea Boutique Fresh Freesia 3

My second card is a simple Z-fold, with an extra panel on the front. I started with stamping and die-cutting a few teacups in different combinations of Fresh Freesia and Basic White using the Cup of Tea stamp set and Teacup dies. Then die-cut another Stitched Rectangle panel. I felt then it needed bigger foliage so I also stamped and die-cut the bigger leaves with Parakeet Party ink.

Tea Boutique Fresh Freesia 1

I used the same piece of Designer Series Paper for the strip on the front panel. The smaller foliage was a sweet addition to the inside panel. I also decided to use a sponge dauber to add a little shadow and depth to the tea-cups. Isn't it funny how the ink comes up much darker?

Tea Boutique Fresh Freesia 2

I haven't put any sentiments on either of these cards - they would both be suitable for a Happy Birthday, Sending Hugs, Thinking of You - any occasion really. But at the time I was making them, while watching the fantastical production of the incredibly emotional funeral, I didn't have the heart for Happy Birthday stamps. That can come later when I decide who I am sending them to.

Thanks for stopping by. Now it's time to go and see what the other Art With Heart team members have created with Fresh Freesia. You can go to my lovely friend Tina's blog by clicking on the box below.

Heart of Christmas - Santa's Delivery

All aboard for this week's Heart of Christmas Blog Hop!

HeaderThe Art With Heart Stampin' Up! team is back again with our weekly Christmas card inspiration.

I have chosen to use the Santa's Delivery bundle today for a cheery Christmas train. The bundle includes the Santa's Delivery stamp set and the Santa's Train Dies.

Santa's Delivery Stampin' Up card (2)

I started with a Soft Sea Foam card base. This one is is 21cm x 10.5cm to fit in a DL envelope. I used Soft Sea Foam, Pear Pizzazz and Mint Macaron ink pads to stamp trees all over the card front to form a forest of pine trees. The trees are from the Trees For Sale stamp set.

Santa's Delivery Stampin' Up card (1)

I cut two train tracks from the Santa's Train Dies in Basic Gray card. I stamped the little puffs of smoke from the steam engine with Balmy Blue Ink and die cut them. Then I stamped the Merry Christmas in Poppy Parade ink and used the foam border die from Basic Borders Die Set to create a bigger smoke puff which I daubed around the edges with Balmy Blue Ink.

Santa's Delivery Stampin' Up card (3)

Santa's Delivery Stampin' Up card (4)

The train engine and carriages were stamped with Memento ink and coloured with Stampin' Blends. I used quite a variety of colours including Shaded Spruce, Poppy Parade, Real Red, Cherry Cobbler, Daffodil Delight, Mango Melody Balmy Blue, Crumb Cake, Soft Suede, Old Olive, Smoky Slate and Basic Black.

Santa's Delivery Stampin' Up card (6)

I think a train full of Christmas cheer is a lovely idea, I'd love to see Puffing Billy all dressed up for the occasion!

Now it is time to see what the other clever stampers have come up with this week. Click on the box below to be taken to the blog of the very talented Cathy Proctor - I can't wait to see what she has created.

Colour Creations - Evening Evergreen

I really LOVE the 2021-2023 In Colours, and this week's Colour Creations features one of my favourites!

HeaderThis week the Art With Heart creative team are celebrating Evening Evergreen - a beautiful, useful, Christmassy, pine forest green!

I have been making a lot of Christmas cards lately with this beautiful colour, so for this week's blog hop, I wanted to steer away from Christmas and make something else. I found some gorgeous inspiration from UK demonstrator Mikaela Titheridge here.

So, let's just say, I got a little bit carried away!!

Artistically Inked Stampin' Up Evening Evergreen cards (12)

Once I started stamping and die-cutting those divine floral images from the Artistically Inked stamp set and Artistic Dies, I didn't know where to stop, and when I put the exquisite brushed gold detailed die-cut against the Evening Evergreen, I just wanted to do more!!

Artistically Inked Stampin' Up Evening Evergreen cards (1)

I started with the easel card - blame my friend Sharon for that - I always want to do at least one fancy fold now, not just standard cards!

So the base of the easel card is Evening Evergreen.

Then I used the largest of the Seasonal Labels Dies to cut a card front. I managed to get such a large piece by doing a clever technique where you only roll half the die-cut through the die-cutting machine, then you flip the whole thing around, leaving a gap, and run the other half through, then you use your trimmer to join the die-cut lines so you get an elongated label.

Does that make sense? I have done this technique dozens of times. It's really useful for creating a bigger shape. I use it with the Rectangle Stitched Dies all the time.

Artistically Inked Stampin' Up Evening Evergreen cards (8)

How beautiful is that shimmer of gold from the Brushed Metallic cardstock? It goes so well with the Gold Shimmer Ribbon. And inspired by my friend Cathy, I actually used two different ribbons on this card front.

I really love how the Evening Evergreen Windowpane Check ribbon coordinates AND contrasts with the card front. The colour match is perfect, and the formal gridlines are really soothing to the eye, to balance out the over-abundance of  detailed floral lines.

Artistically Inked Stampin' Up Evening Evergreen cards (10)

How's that shimmer of gold in the luxe ribbon, and the detailed die-cut? And in contrast, how is that heavenly watercolour effect from the background stamp from the Artistically Inked stamp set?

Artistically Inked Stampin' Up Evening Evergreen cards (9)

On the inside of the easel, I used the same Seasonal Labels die as the front panel, without extending it. I kept a really simple greeting stamp and panel, to leave room for writing my message. And I popped up a stamped rose to hold the easel in place.

I like the two different sprigs of leaves. It's very whacky to have watercolour-ish green leaves, and very formal gold die-cut leaves adorning the same flower, but with this stamp set, it just works so well!

And I love the gold against the Evening Evergreen.

I could have stopped right there - that was enough for the Blog Hop . . . . but I loved the colours and the images so much, that I just cut up and stamped more Evening Evergreen card-bases, and kept adding the Brushed Gold and Polished Pink floral images!

Artistically Inked Stampin' Up Evening Evergreen cards (6)

This second card contains the same two ribbon pieces as the easel card, and a smaller Seasonal Labels die-cut with the greeting stamped in Polished Pink.

Artistically Inked Stampin' Up Evening Evergreen cards (7)

Again, there is such a beautiful shimmer between the Gold Shimmer Ribbon and the Brushed Gold detailed die-cut.

Artistically Inked Stampin' Up Evening Evergreen cards (5)

For the third card, I cut out the gold ribbon and added a big bunch of white bakers twine. I also added small floral images in Pale Papaya.

Artistically Inked Stampin' Up Evening Evergreen cards (2)

For the fourth card, I switched out the two ribbons altogether, for Soft Succulent Satin ribbon - so luxurious!!

I used greeting stamps from Artistically Inked, Ranunculus Romance and Quiet Meadow stamp sets.

Artistically Inked Stampin' Up Evening Evergreen cards (4)

I stamped the inside of all of the cards, with or without any sentiment stamps. The background image is stamped in Soft Succulent, and the greeting stamped in Evening Evergreen. I had actual people in mind for a couple of these cards, so I had to leave room for the handwritten messages.

That's really a lot from me - I better let you go and see what all of my other talented friends have created featuring Evening Evergreen ink, card and paper.

Colour Creations - Early Espresso

Welcome to another week of Stampin' Up! Colour Creations with the Art With Heart Stampin' Up! team.

Header

This week we feature Early Espresso, a rich dark brown from our Neutrals colour family.

When I looked at my stamp collection with Early Espresso in mind, the first thing I saw was what I call the "coffee and chocolate" - Nothing's Better Than stamp set. And yes, I like my coffee rich and dark.

Nothings Better Than Stampin Up cards (1)

For my first card, I cut the A4 card in half longways, so I had a 10.5cm x 29.85cm piece. I scored this in half, then cut the front panel in half vertically. The off-cut piece was turned 90 degrees and used as the horizontal panel on the front of the card. I layered up the two front layers with a patterned piece from the Sun Prints Designer Series Paper.

Nothings Better Than Stampin Up cards (2)

I used the two step stamp set to stamp bright coloured coffee cups onto Basic White card and die-cut them with the Love You More Than dies. I die-cut the word COFFEE from the same die set, in Early Espresso card.

The text and steam from the hot cups was stamped directly onto the patterned paper in Early Espresso Ink.

For my second card, I wanted to try the Faux Step Card which I have seen several people use over the last few weeks. And I switched from coffee to chocolate - espresso flavoured chocolate, I'm thinking!

Nothings Better Than Stampin Up cards (3)

As I was preparing the photos, this card suddenly reminded me of the shelves of chocolates in a chocolate boutique like Haigh's or Koko Black. Nom nom nom!

Nothings Better Than Stampin Up cards (4)

The faux step card is a "cheat's version" of the centre step card. This card is easier to make, as you add an extra strip of card, rather than trying to cut out layers and folds from one single piece.

I deliberately didn't add anything shiny or any ribbon to these cards, to keep them more masculine. With Father's Day this weekend, I thought I might be called on for a spare card.

I can't wait to see what the other Art With Heart ladies have created using Early Espresso. If you would like to see the other creations, please click on the box below to go to my lovely friend Christine's blog.

Colour Creations - Crushed Curry

As the Daffodils are coming into season, and the occasional winters day puts on brilliant sunshine, who wouldn't want to use happy Crushed Curry to brighten up your day?

Header

This week, my fellow Art With Heart Stampin' Up! demonstrators are showcasing this super sunny colour, so join us on the blog hop to see how everyone has used it.

I decided I wanted to include fluttering butterflies in my Crushed Curry creation this week, so I got our Butterfly Brilliance stamp set and the coordinating butterfly Wings Dies.

Butterfly Brilliance Stampin Up (1)

I stamped one set of butterflies onto the Crushed Curry sheet from Tea Boutique Designer Series Paper. Then I used my Crushed Curry Stampin' Write Marker to add a little extra depth to the colour.

I stamped more butterflies using Stazon Jet Black ink on white card and created some depth by cutting a rectangle from the middle and layering it onto Crushed Curry card.

The largest butterfly was attached to this with Mini Glue Dots and fluttering wings folded upwards.

Butterfly Brilliance Stampin Up (3)

I used the So Saffron Stampin' Write Marker to add a tiny bit of colour to the other butterflies on the top layer, just to differentiate them from the bottom layer.

Butterfly Brilliance Stampin Up (2)

As you can see from my first photo - I have leftover pieces to make more cards with - that makes me happy!  And what's more, straight outside my window, I can see Daffodil heads starting to form on the bulbs which have popped up. I can't wait to see what lovely colour and form they are!

Time to go check out what my stamping friends from the Art With Heart Team have also created featuring Crushed Curry.  The next blog on the hop belongs to the lovely and very talented Andrea Sargent. Click the box to go to her post.

Heart of Christmas - Blessings of Home

This week for the Art With Heart - Heart of Christmas Blog Hop, I have selected a non-Christmas stamp set for the main image.HeaderI wanted to glance through my stash of stamp sets and check which other sets could be adapted to a Christmas theme, just by adding a Christmas greeting stamp, and selecting a Christmas colour palette.

I love how the Blessings of Home Bundle could be easily adapted for this, just by colouring it more traditional Christmas colours.

Blessings of Home Stampin Up Christmas Cards (1)

I stamped the main image on Shimmery White card stock then coloured with our Blender Pens, picking the ink up from the ink pad and lightly brushing it on until I got the depth of colour I required.

In this photo you can see the shimmer in the image from the card stock.

Blessings of Home Stampin Up Christmas Cards (2)

I die-cut this pieces and layered it with Dimensionals onto a layer of Vellum Cardstock, cut exactly the same size as the piece of Tea Boutique Designer Series Paper underneath.

This was layered onto Evening Evergreen card, which in turn was layered onto Soft Succulent. A few Pearl Basic Jewels were added for more glimmer, and a cut 3 pieces of foliage from Evening Evergreen card for more texture and to add a little more dark contrast to the card.

Blessings of Home Stampin Up Christmas Cards (3)

I stamped and coloured the other floral bouquet image in this stamp set too, so be sure to come back next week and see a second Christmas card using this same stamp set and colour scheme, but a completely different card!

In the meantime, I am off to hop around the other Art With Heart Blogs to see what the other Heart of Christmas ladies have created. I hope you will join me. Click on the box below to go to lovely Tina Gillespie's blog.

Colour Creations - Crumb Cake

Probably my most used colour, is this week's  feature in the Art With Heart - Colour Creations Blog Hop.

HeaderCrumb Cake is such a useful colour! I use it a great deal with traditional Christmas colours, it makes an awesome neutral colour for a baby card if you want to make a non-gender specific baby card in advance, its great for masculine cards, and it's just an all-rounder when needing a neutral colour on any project.

I started this week by taking two card front size pieces of Crumb Cake cardstock and embossing them with the Seashells 3D embossing folder.

Seaside Seashells Stampin Up cards (1)

Then I gently rubbed Crumb Cake and Blushing Bride ink pads onto the raised side of one of the pieces, then spritzed it with water (thoroughly) to allow the colours to soften and bleed into each other.

Once that piece had dried, I die-cut it with the Seaside Seashells die, making sure to line the image up carefully, then ran it back through with the embossing folder again, to really make that piece nice and textured.

Seaside Seashells Stampin Up cards (2)

So I ended up with one original piece, and one slightly tinted die-cut piece.

I used a Crumb Cake base card and layered both pieces onto that, lining them up carefully and using lots of Dimensionals to make all the bits stick up, then added a simple label, with a scrap of the lovely silver mesh ribbon under it.

Seaside Seashells Stampin Up cards (3)

The oval label die-cut shape is from the Beautiful Shapes Dies pack - I love how it has that quirky sketched line inside the edge of the die-cut. I stamped the greeting in Soft Suede ink and gently sponged it with a combo of Crumb Cake and Blushing Bride inks.

Seaside Seashells Stampin Up cards (4)

Despite all the layers and details, this was an amazingly fast card to make - because of the awesome Stampin' Up! coordinating tools.  And I just love that with ONLY Crumb Cake card stock and a couple of ink pads, I have a beautiful card.

I am off to check out what the other talented Art With Heart demonstrators have created using Crumb Cake. If you would like to join me on the journey, click on the box below to go to lovely Theresa Gerrard's blog.

Colour Creations - Cherry Cobbler

Such a beautiful, much loved colour this week in the Art With Heart - Colour Creations Blog Hop!

Header

Cherry Cobbler truly is one of my most used colours. Namely because it's a go to Christmas colour - and we sure do make a lot of Christmas projects each year! I had to really scratch my head to think about what other current Stampin' Up! products I have that I could use to really show off the beauty of this colour. It didn't take me long to remember the gorgeous Ranunculus stamp set - that flower is perfect!

Ranunculus Romance Stampin' Up cards (1)

There are just a couple of small differences with the two cards I made. On the first one, I stamped the ranunculus with Early Espresso ink, coloured with Blends, then die-cut the beautiful image from Ranunculus Romance stamp set.

I also included a scrap of Sun Prints Designer Series paper as a layer under the label. The background stamping is Gray Granite to go with the Designer Series Paper.

Ranunculus Romance Stampin' Up cards (2)

On the second card, I stamped and coloured the image, in the same way, but then rather than die-cutting it, I tore the Very Vanilla card on a slight angle across the bottom and mounted it onto an extra piece of Cherry Cobbler card. The background stamping is Crumb Cake and I added a few pieces of foliage, die-cut in Crumb Cake and Soft Suede, which I had sitting on my desk, left over from making Blushing Bride Tea Cup cards a few weeks ago.

Ranunculus Romance Stampin' Up cards (3)

These cards are quite formal, but not at all difficult to make, as long as you have a set of foliage dies, and enjoy a bit of colouring in. I have listed all of the products used at the very bottom of this message if you would like to scroll down.

The next person in our Cherry Cobbler blog hop is  Rachel Woollard. Click on the box below to go to her blog and I hope you enjoy seeing what all the team have done with Cherry Cobbler.

Heart of Christmas - Christmas in July

This year I moved up to the Victorian High Country, and it is my first year in a very long time when I am actually seeing REAL snow, in July. Today was probably our coldest day so far, and I had the wood heater chugging away all day.

I can really start to imagine what a northern Christmas might be like! So it seems appropriate to join in the Art With Heart Stampin' Up! team, Heart of Christmas Blog Hop, in time for a snowy Christmas in July!Header

Because today had such wintery weather, I decided to go with very traditional  Christmas colours and images. I selected two stamp sets from our Annual Catalogue, which both share the same coordinating die set.

The Christmas Season stamp set and Christmas To Remember stamp set both contain images matching the Seasonal Labels Dies.

IMG_0081

Because I never do things by halves. I started by stamping and die-cutting a stack of the pine-cone and foliage images on Very Vanilla card. I used Evening Evergreen, Cherry Cobbler, Crumb Cake and Soft Suede inks.

I dry embossed card front size pieces of Very Vanilla cardstock with the Merry Melody 3D embossing folder, then gently inked the embossed piece with Versamark ink. I lightly applied gold embossing powder and heat set it, for a shiny gold vintage finish for the backgrounds.

IMG_0086

For the first card, I layered the musical background layer straight onto a Cherry Cobbler card-base, then played around with arranging the stamped and die-cut pinecone images.

IMG_0087

If most of my stamping stuff wasn't still in boxes from moving house, I probably would have added something shiny, like Champagne Rhinestone Jewels. Instead I have the gold embossing on the background and a piece of the lovely Gold 1/4" Shimmer Ribbon across the card, to add a little sparkle.

My second card had extra layers.

IMG_0085

I cut the music background slightly smaller, and layered it on an angle on Evening Evergreen card, which I then layered onto Very Vanilla, before layering that onto a Cherry Cobbler base-card.

IMG_0088

I've used the same luxurious gold ribbon to wrap around the top layer. I also decorated the inside of both cards, and realise that I have completely forgotten to photograph the insides!
