Colour Creations - Highland Heather

Welcome to the weekly Colour Creations Blog Hop with the Art with Heart Stampin' Up! team.

HeaderThis week we have a beautiful light purple shade from our Subtles family - Highland Heather.

I needed a special milestone birthday card this week, so I decided to make my blog hop project with that card as an end goal, and I went online looking for some fancy fold card designs that might suit the supplies I had pulled out to use.

I found a pretty pink card by Heather Thomas - The Songbird Stamper UK, which not only had all the measurements spelled out with easy to follow instructions, but also a quick video showing how to assemble the card.

Colour Creations - Highland Heather (10)

So in no time I was cutting up card and paper! I found I had to create my own sheet of Designer Series Paper, as I didn't have many in my collection which featured Highland Heather.

Colour Creations - Highland Heather (2)

I started with Highland Heather ink on Basic White card, randomly stamping the paint spill stamp from Artistically Inked stamp set. When I had enough of that on the card, I then stamped the silver-plate jewellery background text stamp from the Ranunculus Romance stamp set.

Colour Creations - Highland Heather (1)

Next, I inked up the Stacked Stone stamp and leaving the stamp face up, I carefully pressed portions of the card onto the inked stamp - in order to just get patches of the inked image. Then lastly, I changed to Garden Green ink and stamped the spatters from Quiet Meadow stamp set.

Colour Creations - Highland Heather (3)

Once this piece was dry, I cut it into three and mounted it onto the base layers following Heather's measurements.

For the patterned paper layers on the three squares, I chose a sheet from the Tea Boutique 6"x 6" Designer Series Paper pack, with a small floral image.

Colour Creations - Highland Heather (4)

In addition to the original measurements, I also used the Tailor Made Tags Dies to create a label for the front, and a smaller one for the middle square inside the card. I used the Alphabest stamp set to stamp "30" and punched the numbers with the Best Label punch.

Colour Creations - Highland Heather (9)

The bunch of flowers stamped on the front label, and on the rear panel and all of the sentiment stamps come from the Amazing Year stamp set.

I put the extra panel on the back to have more space to write, considering it is a milestone birthday.

Colour Creations - Highland Heather (7)

The inside square is attached to a pop-up type support so it sits out from the back of the card, but still layers behind the card front. It's a very simple attachment.

Colour Creations - Highland Heather (6)

Colour Creations - Highland Heather (8)

The bunch of flowers on the front was stamped with Garden Green ink so that the leaves and stems were already the correct colour to match the colours in the Tea Boutique Designer Series Paper I used in the layers on the squares. I coloured the flowers using the Highland Heather Stampin' Blends.

Colour Creations Showcase - Petal Pink

Who doesn't love a versatile soft pink which goes with everything??

AWH Colour Creations Blog Header

It's Kathryn here, and I am excited to share that this week's AWH Colour Creations Showcase is Petal Pink!

Colour Creations Showcase

www.katlodesigns.com

In our January to June Mini Catalogue we have the cutest product suite - Snail Mail. The Snail Mail Designer Series Paper is loaded with beautiful bright colours and for this week's showcase I decided to introduce Petal Pink as the base colour and bring in the colours out of the suite, using fussy cut and die-cut images from the paper and a little bit of background stamping.

IMG_8209

IMG_8213One of the first things I love to do with new Designer Series Paper that has coordinating dies, is sit and cut out a heap of shapes that I can then use on cards or other projects. By the time you have cut a dozen or so, the ideas are flowing.

IMG_8217I thought all these cut out shapes really loaned themselves to a couple of simple fancy fold cards so after cutting out a stack of shapes, I made a very straight forward "Z" fold card - Petal Pink as the base and Basic White panels.

Snail Mail Stampin' Up! cards for the AWH Colour Creations Showcase Petal PinkThen it was just a matter of adhering the die cut (and a few fussy cut) images to the card. For the front panel I also stamped the toadstool image in Petal Pink and used the white Watercolor Pencil to add a couple of highlights.

Snail Mail Stampin' Up cards (20)The big toadstool on the front right of the "Z" fold hides the snail that appears only when the card is open. You can see that I also stamped the toadstool image on the "Z" piece.

Next I made a basic easel card with more of the pieces I had cut out earlier.

Snail Mail Stampin' Up! cards for the AWH Colour Creations Showcase Petal PinkAll of the die cut shapes are cut from the coordinating Snail Dies set in the same catalogue - I often add other dies to the mix, but I didn't need to with this amazing product suite.

Snail Mail Stampin' Up! cards for the AWH Colour Creations Showcase Petal PinkI ended up making two more cards from all the pieces I had cut out of the paper! I will leave them for another day - because by the time I took full photos and close up photos I had about 20 photos. I don't think my blog platform will like it if I do a blog post with 20 photos in it! LOL

Anyway, you see how well the Petal Pink goes being used as a base card - kind of a substitute neutral colour on these cards. Feel free to pop back in a couple of days to see the other two cards - they are standard cards, not fancy fold - and I whipped them up in about 10 minutes each just using the leftover pieces. Got to love that!!

I hope you enjoyed looking at my Snail Mail projects, and if you would like to see how the rest of the Art With Heart ladies have used Petal Pink, please hop over to Cathy's blog where she has all the links for their posts.

See you soon with ink on your fingers!

Colour Creations Showcase - Pear Pizzazz

Pear Pizzazz has been in the Stampin' Up! colour range ever since I joined Stampin' Up! over 13 years ago. I use this colour A LOT!

Welcome to Week 33 of the Art With Heart Colour Creations Showcase where we are going to show you why we like Pear Pizzazz SO much!

Colour Creations Showcase

www.katlodesigns.com

Yesterday we kept with tradition and following the Mount Martha Australia Day Swim (MMAD Swim) we ventured to the Mornington Botanical Rose Garden to immerse ourselves in the beauty of the rose fragrances and every coloured rose you can imagine!

So when I was starting to think about Pear Pizzazz and the showcase, I somehow knew it was going to be a rose card!

All Things Fabulous Stampin Up card for Colour Creations Showcase

I have used Pear Pizzazz as the base card and for some of the stamping, and I selected the All Things Fabulous Bundle of stamps and dies to make a sweet, soft card.

All Things Fabulous Stampin Up card for Colour Creations Showcase

The detailed lattice die is cut from Soft Sea Foam card and in contrast, I have stamped the little rosehip type sprig in Old Olive just to add a tiny bit of depth to the colours of the card.

The roses are stamped with Flirty Flamingo and Blushing Bride - they are three (3) step images and for the 2nd stamp I have used Flirty Flamingo ink stamped off first on scrap paper.

All Things Fabulous Stampin Up card for Colour Creations Showcase

The detailed trellis die-cut piece folds around the right hand side of the card front onto the inside.

Now, in case you were thinking how clever I am, and how much thought I put into this card, I have a confession! I actually CASED this card from page 121 of the Annual Catalogue! I just changed the colours to work for this week!

Colour Creations Showcase - Pacific Point

Welcome to Week 32 of the Art With Heart Colour Creations Showcase! My name is Kathryn, and this week's beautiful colour is Pacific Point!

AWH Colour Creations Blog Header

I love using our Designer Series Papers to show off the featured colour - it's so easy then to colour coordinate with ink pads and cardstock. So I usually start this process by looking through our catalogues to see which paper the selected colour is in.

For Pacific Point, I was delighted to see Whale of a Time 6x6 Designer Series Paper appear in my search. I love this paper and have hardly used it "because it's too nice to cut" LOL

Paper

As soon as I started laying the pages out on my work table, I knew I was going to make a Pacific Point diorama card - using Pacific Point as the base card and internal layers and showing off the gorgeous papers.

Whale of a Time Stampin' Up! Diorama Card Colour Creations ShowcaseNow, I don't own the stamp set or the Whale punch that form part of the Whale of a Time Suite, but I'm sure you'll agree, you can make a truly gorgeous project with just the patterned paper and a few other supplies.

Whale of a Time Stampin' Up! Diorama Card Colour Creations ShowcaseI made the diorama card square with a 6"x 6" front to show off the full pieces of Designer Series Paper, and I made it 6cms deep so when it is folded flat it fits nicely inside a C5 envelope.

Whale of a Time Stampin' Up! Diorama Card Colour Creations Showcase

There is a lot of fussy cutting here with my trusty Paper Snips, but if you look carefully, you can see I also used a couple of die-cuts - the seaweed from Smooth Sailing Dies and the skeleton tree from In The Woods Dies which looks just like coral when cut out from Calypso Coral card stock.

Whale of a Time Stampin' Up! Diorama Card Colour Creations Showcase

For the back of the diorama card, I trimmed one full piece of the 6"x 6" paper down to 5 & 7/8" square, so it would fit on the back with a small border of the Pacific Point and this became my writing panel.

Don't you just love these gorgeous papers and the beautiful ocean designs?

Please leave me a comment and then I hope you will click through to Cathy's blog where she has all the links for the other Pacific Point creations by the talented Art With Heart stampers.

See you soon with ink on your fingers!

Colour Creations Showcase - Old Olive

Hey! It's Kathryn here, welcome to the  Colour Creations Showcase where some of my lovely demonstrator friends on the Art With Heart Stampin' Up! team share ideas for how to use each of the Stampin' Up! colours. Each week we showcase a different colour and this week it's Old Olive.

AWH Colour Creations Blog Header

This week I have tried something different.  I have my team night tomorrow night which like all of last year, is going to be via Zoom. So over the weekend I went looking for some card sketches and posted them on my group to challenge the ladies to put together mini kits for themselves that we can make while we are chatting on Zoom tomorrow night.

IMG_1141

I have been subscribed to Becky Fleck's pagemaps for many years so I was very happy to see these cardmaps - one landscape and one portrait for January 2021.

IMG_1142

I have been LOVING using up my collection of Designer Series Papers recently, and when I saw these sketches, along with knowing that this week's colour is Old Olive, I KNEW I was going to use the new delicious Ice Cream Corner Designer Series Paper from the January to June Mini Catalogue. (And in Melbourne' it's been perfect weather for icecream too!).

DSP

Don't you love all those bright gelato colours?

Here's what I came up with:

Ice Cream Corner Stampin' Up! cards for the Art With Heart Colour Creations Showcase

Don't you love the way the Old Olive base card and the Old Olive ink in the stamped greeting really brings out the green in the papers?

Ice Cream Corner Stampin' Up! cards for the Art With Heart Colour Creations Showcase

For the portrait card I chose the smaller pattern on the reverse side of one of the papers for the background of the top half, and opted for a few less banners as the paper was so pretty anyway.

Colour Creations Showcase - Night of Navy

Happy New Year Stampers!

It's Kathryn here, and I'm back with the second half of the Art With Heart 2020-2021 Colour Creations Showcase.

AWH Colour Creations Blog Header

This week we have the very versatile Night of Navy from the Neutrals Colour Family. Night of Navy has been in the Stampin' Up! colour range for as long as I can remember, at times being the "new black" and always being a staple colour, for it's versatility.

Colour Creations Showcase

www.katlodesigns.com

I have created the colour combination chart this week from the colours in the lovely Paper Blooms 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper which is one of the free gifts you can select during Sale-a-bration with your $90 product order.

155222

The paper coordinates with products in the new January to June mini catalogue, but you'll see that you don't have to have ALL the coordinating products to produce gorgeous matching projects.

After the crazy year that was 2020, I decided that I didn't need a day to a page diary or planner this year and I got myself a $2.48 week to a view A5 diary, knowing that I could easily cover it with Stampin' Up! paper to make it pretty!

Stampin' Up! Colour Creations Showcase - Night of Navy, Paper Blooms card using Saleabration 2021 paper

I thought the sentiment from Ridiculously Awesome Stamp Set was a perfect fit to adorn the cover going into a new year, and I added a bookmark to keep track of the weeks.

Stampin' Up! Colour Creations Showcase - Night of Navy, Paper Blooms card using Saleabration 2021 paper

On the inside first page I put a little affirmation - also from the Ridiculously Awesome stamp set, and on the week beginning March 1st, I added another - being the first week of Semester 1 for my third year at uni. I love that the Night of Navy ink matches the printing in the diary.

Stampin' Up! Colour Creations Showcase - Night of Navy, Paper Blooms card using Saleabration 2021 paper

Covering the diary was so easy - just like you would with school books, and once I had all the papers out, I wanted to use all of them - they are so pretty! So I decided to whip up a really quick stack of birthday cards, to get me started with the 2021 birthday mail outs.

Stampin' Up! Colour Creations Showcase - Night of Navy, Paper Blooms card using Saleabration 2021 paper

All I've done is layer a piece of the Designer Series Paper onto  Night of Navy card bases and added the fun sentiment stamp using layering dies.  A few different rhinestones finish them off.

Stampin' Up! Colour Creations Showcase - Night of Navy, Paper Blooms card using Saleabration 2021 paper

On two of the cards, I also used the little white fabric flowers out of the Boho Indigo card kit to add more texture. And of course I added a strip of the lovely paper to the insides.

Colour Creations Showcase - Mossy Meadow

Hi there, it's Kathryn here!

How's your run into Christmas going after this crazy year we've been having?

AWH Colour Creations Blog Header

Week 29 and our last Colour Creations Showcase for 2020 includes a beautiful Christmas Colour, so I had every intention from the start to make this week's card an inspiring Christmas card using this versatile staple colour - Mossy Meadow.

I have been making lots of bright cheery Real Red and Garden Green cards with bold images using the Tag Buffet Project kit, so when I pulled out Mossy Meadow card stock and ink pad, I decided I wanted a more elegant and toned down card.

I am also in the process of using up all of last year's Christmas products and that includes the Most Wonderful Time Product Medley which is still available.. My card is actually a new version of some I did last year which were inspired by Linda Dalke.

Most Wonderful Time Product Medley Stampin' Up! Christmas card focussing on Mossy Meadow for the AWH Colour Creations Showcase

The lovely pine tree stamp comes from the Most Wonderful Time stamp set and is stamped with 2nd and 3rd generation stamping (ie, keep stamping without reinking to get the depth of the forest).

The deer is a printed die-cut piece from the Product Medley popped up on dimensionals, and the greeting stamp is from Perfectly Plaid stamp set stamped with Soft Suede ink.

Most Wonderful Time Product Medley Stampin' Up! Christmas card focussing on Mossy Meadow for the AWH Colour Creations Showcase

The Crumb Cake panel is layered onto Mossy Meadow using Dimensionals, then this is layered onto Whisper White which is layered onto the Mossy Meadow Base Card.

The inside is decorated in a similar manner.

Most Wonderful Time Product Medley Stampin' Up! Christmas card focussing on Mossy Meadow for the AWH Colour Creations Showcase

I loved using the deer die-cuts from the kit, I could never stamp them with such a beautiful subtle colour!

Well, if you would like to see how our other creative friends have used Mossy Meadow, please hop over to Cathy's blog where she has all the links. Don't forget to leave a comment - we love to hear what you think!

See you again on 6th of January for Night of Navy.

Colour Creations Showcase - Mint Macaron

Hey there! It's Kathryn here, welcoming you back to another Art With Heart Colour Creations Showcase!

AWH Colour Creations Blog Header

I'm kind of disappointed that this week is Mint Macaron, as my gorgeous niece's long awaited wedding is next week and one of her wedding colours is Mint Macaron . . .  so I have been making stuff that I CAN'T SHOW YOU!! Aaaghhhh!!

However, I decided that since none of my family ever looks at my blog, I could pop in a little sneak-peek . . . LOL

Forever Blossoms Mint Macaron Double Zig Zag Card Stampin' Up! using Ornate Labels, and Ornate Borders Dies

Whatever you do, don't tell!

I have been putting together this double Zig Zag fold card using Mint Macaron prints from a couple of different packs of Designer Series Paper, and Soft Sea Foam Card stock.

I've used the Mint Macaron & Gold Foil embossed paper from the Ornate Garden Specialty Designer Series Paper and two other Mint Macaron Copper & Gold Foil embossed sheets from the Gilded Autumn Specialty Paper (in the Aug-Dec Mini catalogue).

Forever Blossoms Mint Macaron Double Zig Zag Card Stampin' Up! using Ornate Borders, Ornate Labels, Gilded Autumn Designer Series Paper

I've also used some of my favourite ever fluffy vellum - the Plush Poinsettia Specialty Paper - such a nice luxurious addition to any project.

Forever Blossoms Mint Macaron Double Zig Zag Card Stampin' Up! using Ornate Borders, Ornate Labels, Gilded Autumn Designer Series Paper

I've actually not finished the inside yet - it has a secret flap that lifts up so there are two places to write - and I think I need to stamp some more flowers and leaves for that. The stamped images are all from the Forever Blossoms stamp set.

Forever Blossoms Mint Macaron Double Zig Zag Card Stampin' Up! using Ornate Borders, Ornate Labels, Gilded Autumn Designer Series Paper

Do you like how nice the Plush Poinsettia vellum looks layered over the top of Mint Macaron cardstock?

Colour Creations Showcase - Mango Melody

Welcome to week 24 of the Art With Heart team Colour Creations Showcase!

AWH Colour Creations Blog Header

This week the star of the show is Mango Melody.  And do you know, I can't remember EVER using this colour before?

And yet it is such a bright, cheery, pick me up kind of cocktail colour!

Colour Creations Showcase

www.katlodesigns.com

When I realised which colour was this week, I had a bit of a panic about what to make with it, but then I saw a stamp set on my shelf which hadn't been opened and used - and it just screamed out to be used with Mango Melody - hmmmmm! Mango cocktails! What a perfect thing in this suddenly humid weather we've been having!

Nothing's Better Than Stampin' Up Mango Melody (1)

I also grabbed out the leftover bits from my Box of Sunshine Paper Pumpkin Kit and suddenly I was making way more than one card - so much brightness and fun!  The colourful strip along the bottom of this first card is one of the card fronts from the Share Sunshine cards, cut into 1" strips. And I added some sequins out of the kit for a bit of sparkle.

Nothings Better Than Stampin Up Mango Melody (1)

This card contains another 1" strip of card front from the Paper Pumpkin kit, along with the pineapple, black and white polka dot piece and more sequins.  The stamp set has 26 pieces for lots of mix and match greetings AND there's a coordinating die set for cutting out those cute cocktails!

Nothings Better Than Stampin Up Mango Melody (4)

The stamp set is photopolymer so it's really easy to line up the words to make a fun background - this one is inked with Mango Melody and every  second image is stamped off (or "second generation stamping").

But WAIT!! There are not just cocktail stamps in this set! How could I use the set without also making at least one COFFEE card!?!  And how cute and funky are those coffee cups!

Nothings Better Than Stampin Up Mango Melody (3)

I can't believe what a fun colour Mango Melody is, after ignoring it for so long! I really enjoyed designing these cards and putting them together!

Nothings Better Than Stampin Up Mango Melody (6)

See the lovely touch of gold on the pineapple? And here is what the inside of the card looks like:

Colour Creations Showcase - Just Jade

Welcome to the 22nd Colour Creations Showcase for 2020! This week's colour is beautiful Just Jade from the 2020-2022 In Colors. I hope you'll join me in visiting each of the blogs of the talented Art With Heart Stampin' Team creators to see what they have done with this beautiful shade of green.

AWH Colour Creations Blog Header

I have just five days left to complete all my uni work and submit it for assessment - so even though I had big plans to make gorgeous creations with Just Jade, I had to settle for quick and simple, even though I love the colour AND there are SO many products available featuring Just Jade.

IMG_5901

So, for my quick and simple card, I selected the Just Jade card and envelope from the Flowers For Every Season Memories and More Cards & Envelopes. Then rather than adding layers of card, I stamped straight onto the card, masking the edges of the rectangle and stamping inside it.

I have used my favourite new stamp from the Dandy Garden Variety Bundle which will be available next January to June.

Dandy Garden Just Jade Stampin Up (5)

Then it was just a matter of adding a bit of embellishment.

Dandy Garden Just Jade Stampin Up (3)

The dragonfly and greeting are from the same stamp set, stamped in Just Jade on Shimmery White card stock.

Dandy Garden Just Jade Stampin Up (2)

The ribbon is from the Flowers For Every Season Ribbon Combo Pack and the label die is from Ornate Frames Dies.

Dandy Garden Just Jade Stampin Up (4)

The Dandy Garden Variety Bundle includes the Dragonfly Punch. I stamped it with Just Jade, then used the black Stampin' Write marker to just darken the body a little.

This was a super quick card and it looks delightful in real life - I might have to make some more of those!

I hope you will click on this link to go to Cathy's blog and see what everyone else has created using the beautiful Just Jade!

See you soon!

Colour Creations Showcase - Highland Heather

This week the Art With Heart ladies are showing off lovely Highland Heather in our Colour Creations Showcase.

AWH Colour Creations Blog Header

Highland Heather is such a pretty pastel purple. It's lovely for all those lavender flowery type cards, as well as being a gorgeous shade for baby cards.

It even features in two different packs of our Christmas paper this year, in the Feels Like Frost Specialty Designer Series Paper AND the Snowflake Splendor Designer Series Paper.

I have taken a small piece from each pack and teamed them with some brand new products for a very different look.

Dandy Garden - Highland Heather Stampin' Up (1)

Yes! This is a bit of a sneaky peek at the Dandy Garden Variety Bundle which will be available in next January-June Mini Catalogue - it includes the gorgeous Dragonfly Garden Stamp Set, a Dragonfly Builder punch and amazing Dandy Garden Designer Series Paper.

Dandy Garden - Highland Heather Stampin' Up (2)

My card base is our standard A5 card, but instead of scoring it in half for an A6 card, I scored it on the 14.85cm line for a square card which will fit in a 6"x 6" (or 15cm) envelope.

Dandy Garden - Highland Heather Stampin' Up (3)

Instead of adhering the second half of the front panel to the inside of the card, I decided to let it fold all the way out so there would be more white space for writing inside the card, instead of on the back of the main card base.

Dandy Garden - Highland Heather Stampin' Up (4)

There's a really beautiful bunch of wildflowers stamp in the Dragonfly Garden stamp which I have stamped in Highland Heather ink on the Snowflake Splendor DSP on the front panel.

The dragonflies were stamped with Black Memento Ink and coloured with Light Purple Posy and Highland Heather Blends Duos. And can you see the Wink of Stella glimmering at you?

Dandy Garden - Highland Heather Stampin' Up (5)

And on the inside panel I stamped the small multiple dragonfly stamp in Highland Heather ink onto the Feels Like Frost DSP.

These colours are all so pretty together, don't you think!

I would love you to leave me a comment to tell me what you think, then, if you'd like to see what the rest of the creative Art With Heart team ladies have done, please hop over to Cathy's blog where she has all of the links.
