AWH Colour Creations - Balmy Blue

Welcome to another week of Colour Creations with the Art With Heart Stampin' Up! Demonstrator team from Australia.

    AWH Blog Header

This week we are creating with the lovely shade Balmy Blue.

Balmy Blue is a really pretty blue - however, I struggled to think what to make with it this week, because I just don't have any Designer Series Papers with Balmy Blue in them, or any stamp sets that are particularly masculine which I thought I could use.

Then, I suddenly remembered I have some spare, leftover pieces in the very cute By Your Side Kit from the Kit Collections, and Balmy Blue would go great with the Old Olive, Calypso Coral and Basic Grey pieces in the kit.

I love the By Your Side card making kit as it is a fully self contained kit - meaning besides having the card bases and die-cut pieces for assembling the cards, it also includes a stamp set, ink spot, block, adhesive and embellishments for making 8 cards, all in the one kit. But this one has bonus die-cuts and embellishments with 12 of each instead of 8. So there are enough pieces left over to add some card stock and make 4 more cards.

And that is what I did this week, adding Balmy Blue card stock and Balmy Blue Designer Series Paper from the Subtles Paper Stack, a bit of extra Basic Grey card and some Balmy Blue ink, instead of the Old Olive Ink which comes in the kit.

By Your Side Kit cards - 4 x Balmy Blue
If you are going away for a long weekend or short holiday, the kit is the perfect craft item to take with you, because it all comes in one small box which will easily fit under the seat of the car, or in your overnight bag. Then if you have indoor weather, you have something to work on which hasn't taken up much space at all, and because it's fully self-contained, you have everything you  need right there in the box.

Here's some close ups of the actual kit cards, alongside my alternate Balmy Blue cards.

Colour Creations - Gray Granite

Who doesn't love a warm gray for a neutral colour on your cards?

Header

I know I do! And I am glad to be sharing in the Colour Creations Blog Hop with the Art With Heart stamping team today as we show off Gray Granite!

Normally each week with the Colour Creations, I really feature the chosen colour as the main colour on the project. This week, I have gone for something a little different. I have taken all the pieces for two of the cards from the Birthday Cards Organiser Kit and I have added Gray Granite base cards, and added a Gray Granite item onto the card front.

Birthday Card Organiser Kit Stampin' Up (4)

I had to trim the card fronts that were supplied in the kit, to fit our card size better, then mounted it onto Gray Granite. Then for my first card, I die-cut the largest detailed butterfly from the Brilliant Butterflies Dies and adhered that to the card front, placing the small greeting from the kit over it.

Birthday Card Organiser Kit Stampin' Up (1)

I think the Gray Granite butterfly really softens the whole look of the card.

For the second card in the kit, I took inspiration from the supplied kit pieces and replaced the Sahara Sand rectangle layer, with a Gray Granite layer, cut with the Rectangle Stitched Dies.

Birthday Card Organiser Kit Stampin' Up (2)

To further soften this card, I switched out the 'white on black' label for Evening Evergreen text on a white label, also die-cut with the Stitched Rectangles.

Birthday Card Organiser Kit Stampin' Up (3)

Using the Stampin' Up! card kits makes card-making really straight forward and fast. But by adding different base cards and other layers, you can stretch the kit contents out and make more cards with similar pieces and colour schemes.

I am looking forward to seeing what the rest of the team has created using Gray Granite. Please join me by hopping over to my lovely friend Christine Blain's blog post by clicking on the next box below.

Colour Creations Showcase - Mossy Meadow

Hi there, it's Kathryn here!

How's your run into Christmas going after this crazy year we've been having?

AWH Colour Creations Blog Header

Week 29 and our last Colour Creations Showcase for 2020 includes a beautiful Christmas Colour, so I had every intention from the start to make this week's card an inspiring Christmas card using this versatile staple colour - Mossy Meadow.

I have been making lots of bright cheery Real Red and Garden Green cards with bold images using the Tag Buffet Project kit, so when I pulled out Mossy Meadow card stock and ink pad, I decided I wanted a more elegant and toned down card.

I am also in the process of using up all of last year's Christmas products and that includes the Most Wonderful Time Product Medley which is still available.. My card is actually a new version of some I did last year which were inspired by Linda Dalke.

Most Wonderful Time Product Medley Stampin' Up! Christmas card focussing on Mossy Meadow for the AWH Colour Creations Showcase

The lovely pine tree stamp comes from the Most Wonderful Time stamp set and is stamped with 2nd and 3rd generation stamping (ie, keep stamping without reinking to get the depth of the forest).

The deer is a printed die-cut piece from the Product Medley popped up on dimensionals, and the greeting stamp is from Perfectly Plaid stamp set stamped with Soft Suede ink.

Most Wonderful Time Product Medley Stampin' Up! Christmas card focussing on Mossy Meadow for the AWH Colour Creations Showcase

The Crumb Cake panel is layered onto Mossy Meadow using Dimensionals, then this is layered onto Whisper White which is layered onto the Mossy Meadow Base Card.

The inside is decorated in a similar manner.

Most Wonderful Time Product Medley Stampin' Up! Christmas card focussing on Mossy Meadow for the AWH Colour Creations Showcase

I loved using the deer die-cuts from the kit, I could never stamp them with such a beautiful subtle colour!

Well, if you would like to see how our other creative friends have used Mossy Meadow, please hop over to Cathy's blog where she has all the links. Don't forget to leave a comment - we love to hear what you think!

See you again on 6th of January for Night of Navy.

Colour Creations Showcase - Mango Melody

Welcome to week 24 of the Art With Heart team Colour Creations Showcase!

AWH Colour Creations Blog Header

This week the star of the show is Mango Melody.  And do you know, I can't remember EVER using this colour before?

And yet it is such a bright, cheery, pick me up kind of cocktail colour!

Colour Creations Showcase

www.katlodesigns.com

When I realised which colour was this week, I had a bit of a panic about what to make with it, but then I saw a stamp set on my shelf which hadn't been opened and used - and it just screamed out to be used with Mango Melody - hmmmmm! Mango cocktails! What a perfect thing in this suddenly humid weather we've been having!

Nothing's Better Than Stampin' Up Mango Melody (1)

I also grabbed out the leftover bits from my Box of Sunshine Paper Pumpkin Kit and suddenly I was making way more than one card - so much brightness and fun!  The colourful strip along the bottom of this first card is one of the card fronts from the Share Sunshine cards, cut into 1" strips. And I added some sequins out of the kit for a bit of sparkle.

Nothings Better Than Stampin Up Mango Melody (1)

This card contains another 1" strip of card front from the Paper Pumpkin kit, along with the pineapple, black and white polka dot piece and more sequins.  The stamp set has 26 pieces for lots of mix and match greetings AND there's a coordinating die set for cutting out those cute cocktails!

Nothings Better Than Stampin Up Mango Melody (4)

The stamp set is photopolymer so it's really easy to line up the words to make a fun background - this one is inked with Mango Melody and every  second image is stamped off (or "second generation stamping").

But WAIT!! There are not just cocktail stamps in this set! How could I use the set without also making at least one COFFEE card!?!  And how cute and funky are those coffee cups!

Nothings Better Than Stampin Up Mango Melody (3)

I can't believe what a fun colour Mango Melody is, after ignoring it for so long! I really enjoyed designing these cards and putting them together!

Nothings Better Than Stampin Up Mango Melody (6)

See the lovely touch of gold on the pineapple? And here is what the inside of the card looks like:

Nothings Better Than Stampin Up Mango Melody (2)

I really hope you will check out the rest of the amazing projects by my Art With Heart stamping friends. You can do that by clicking here and going to lovely Cathy's blog where she has ALL the links.

Hope to see you again next week when we showcase Melon Mambo.

Colour Creations Showcase - Gray Granite

Hello!! Welcome to Gray Granite week!

AWH Colour Creations Blog Header

Can you believe we are up to week 20 in the Art With Heart Colour Creations Showcase?  That is a record for me to have blogged 20 weeks in a row, and sometimes twice a week.  I will have to remember to be thankful for Covid19 restrictions for helping me to develop this habit!

Colour Creations Showcase

www.katlodesigns.com

Gray Granite is a beautiful warm, earthy grey - kind of the grey of the rocky outcrops in the nearby Strathbogie ranges - which of course is known for its granitic outcrops . . . It's the kind of grey that a beautiful old stone house would be built with, or the grey of a dear old elephant mama's hide, or the grey of a snuggly plush bunny for a new born baby's cot.

It's also an ethereal elegant colour, understated and perfect for setting off Whisper White and Gold Foil, and this week's project does just that.

Boho Indigo in Gray Granite - Stampin Up (1)

Don't you love the way the Gold Foil reflects across the table - it's so shiny!!

Boho Indigo in Gray Granite - Stampin Up (4)

I have used Gray Granite card for the base, second layer and some of the leaves cut using the Boho Indigo Dies. The first layer, more leaves and the label are in Whisper White card with Gray Granite ink for the greeting. The gold foil panel and loose leaves are all from the Forever Gold Laser-cut Specialty paper on page 152 of the Annual Catalogue.

Boho Indigo in Gray Granite - Stampin Up (2)

The lovely birthday greeting is from the Boho Indigo stamp set in the Boho Indigo product medley - one of my most used groups of products since this current annual catalogue came out in June. And the other embellishment on this card is the Gold Hoop which comes in a pack of 10 on page 156 of the annual catalogue. After taking this photo, I changed my mind and pulled some of the foliage bits through the hoop so they overlapped it.

I can't wait for someone to have a special birthday in the next couple of weeks so I can send this to them!

I would love you to visit the other creative Art With Heart team creators and see their gorgeous creations using Gray Granite. To do so, please go to Cathy's blog here where she has all the links!

See you again soon with ink on your fingers!!

AWH Colour Creations - Gorgeous Grape

Hi! It's Kathryn here!

Welcome to Week 18 of the Colour Creations Showcase where the talented Art With Heart Stampin' Up! team members share amazing creations focusing on one particular colour from the Stampin' Up! colour families.

AWH Colour Creations Blog Header

This week we are showcasing Gorgeous Grape - a popular new purple in the Stampin' Up! range.

Colour Creations Showcase

www.katlodesigns.com

Right back at the start of the 2020 Colour Creations Showcase, when we looked at Blackberry Bliss and Blushing Bride, I chose to use pieces from the absolutely delicious Gorgeous Posies Card Kit.

This week I found myself going back to the Gorgeous Posies card kit, because the colour combination is so beautiful!  And I threw in a little surprise so I could make a magical little message to send out to someone like me, still dealing with Stage 4 lockdown in Melbourne.

Gorgeous Posies Card Kit & Flight of Fancy Stampin Up (2)
How cute is this little witch and her pet mouse from the Flight of Fancy stamp set?  I think Gorgeous Grape is the perfect colour for this cheerful little "good witch".

How can she spread anything but joy with those colours!

Flight of Fancy Stampin' Up

I stamped the cute image on Thick Whisper White card with Black Stazon Ink, then used a Blender Pen with the Gorgeous Grape inkpad to colour her dress, hat and the mouse. The yellow on the broom and the stars and her hair is Bumble Bee Stampin' Write Marker and the broom stick and shadows on the straw are Cinnamon Cider Stampin' Write Marker - applied direct to the image.

The image was fussy cut with paper snips. You can't see it on these images, but I also used a Sponge Dauber to apply Blushing Bride ink to her face.

Gorgeous Posies Card Kit & Flight of Fancy Stampin Up (4)

The label on the front of the card is a mixture of words made up from 3 separate stamp sets:

  • "Sending you" comes from Comfort & Hope Stamp set
  • "A little" comes from Gnome for the Holidays stamp set
  • "Magic" comes from Poinsettia Petals stamp set

Each of the words were inked with the Gorgeous Grape Stampin' Write marker and stamped "near" each other for a whimsical little greeting.

Gorgeous Posies Card Kit & Flight of Fancy Stampin Up (1)

I added half a dozen Champagne Rhinestones to the front for that extra magic bling, and the final step was to include a Whisper White insert inside the Gorgeous Grape base card. Along the bottom of the insert I stamped the sparkle image from Flight of Fancy in Gorgeous Grape ink.

I'd love to know what you think, so you're very welcome to leave a comment if you'd like, then please check out all our other beautiful Gorgeous Grape creations in the Colour Creation Showcase. Once again, lovely Cathy is hosting and the full list of participants can be found at her blog here.

Hope to see you again soon!

Lots of Happy Card Kit

Colouring with Alcohol Markers

I was absolutely delighted that the self-contained Lots Of Happy Card Kit carried over into our Annual Catalogue this year, along with it's refill kit.

Lots of Happy kit image

It truly is one of the most gorgeous card kits I have ever seen. And even though it comes with it's own beautiful Watercolour pencils in the kit, I just love, love, love that it can also be coloured with our Stampin' Blends - the alcohol markers.

Lots of Happy Card Kit (8)

The kit contains sheets of pre-printed, die-cut images ready for colouring, either with the pencils in the kit, or with your own favourite colouring tools.

I started with the dark Old Olive Stampin' Blend, then moved onto the lighter one. Here's a look at how I colour.

Step 1. Add a touch of the darkest colour into the corners of the image.

Lots of Happy Card Kit (5)

Step 2. Blend in the lighter colour to the dark.

Lots of Happy Card Kit (6)

Step 3. Keep going until you've coloured the whole sheet - or need to stop for coffee (or wine) . . .

Lots of Happy Card Kit (7)

Step 4. Change colours and start doing the flowers and berries! (okay, so maybe don't have wine . . . LOL).

Lots of Happy Card Kit (3)

Step 5. Just keep colouring, just keep colouring, just keep colouring!

Lots of Happy Card Kit (2)

It's amazing the variety you can create with just 7 of the Stampin' Blends.

Lots of Happy Card Kit (1)

Step 6. Get SERIOUS and change the colours up!

Lots of Happy Card Kit (9)

Step 7. Stand back and admire your colouring!

Lots of Happy Card Kit (11)

Step 8. Now it's time to pop them out of the sheet and assemble a stack of beautiful cards!
