AWH Colour Creations - Wild Wheat

Wild Wheat is the fifth of our new In Colors and this is week 5 of the Art With Heart blog hop where Art With Heart Stampin' Up! team members share our Colour Creations featuring this week's colour.

Wild Wheat is a funny golden shade like dirty mustard and while it may seem like a difficult colour to use, it's perfect for the centres of flowers. Today I have used three of our new In Colours teamed together, just the way Stampin' Up! has in the Fresh as a Daisy Designer Series Paper pack.

First thing I did was grab out the paper and cut a couple of pieces for card fronts. I decided on simple Wild Wheat base cards as the paper already has a lot going on.

Then I cut a stack of flowers and leaves from the coordinating Cheerful Daisies Dies. I just cut them in Basic White card as I wanted to replicate the flowers on the paper and could just use a sponge dauber to add a touch of the ink to the flower centres and the leaves.

I usually spend a little bit of time at this stage arranging them on the card front to see what works best, and it is at this point I got out my trusty sponge daubers and sponged a small amount of Wild Wheat and Pebbled Path onto the flower centres and leaves.

I was going to mount the paper straight onto the Wild Wheat base card, which would have been fine, but the more I looked at it, the more I wanted to add the thinnest border of white around it to frame the images.

That definitely makes it pop more and was worth doing. It adds a formal touch. I could have roughed up the edges of the Designer Series Paper for a more shabby chic look, but I was happy to go with the crisper finish.

I layered the die-cut daisies over the daisies on the printed paper - offsetting them a little so you can still see the layers underneath.

I chose the greeting stamp and label die also from the Cheerful Daisies Bundle to stamp and cut the sentiment piece and adhered most of the pieces with Stampin' Dimensionals or a spot of Tombow Liquid Glue.

AWH Colour Creations - Pebbled Path

Welcome to another week of Colour Creations with the Art With Heart stampers.

Blog Header ImageThis is our fourth week of exploring the In Colors in the new annual catalogue and this week we have a wonderful new natural colour called Pebbled Path.

I couldn't help myself with my favourite Designer Series Paper which has touches of this colour in the fun characters. So this week I quickly whipped up three really simple but very fun birthday cards!

Pebble Path Zoo Crew cards

It's kind of strange, because I never would have thought of a mid to dark tone brown as the base for cheery birthday cards, but I just love the way the Pebbled Path ink on the Oh, Happy Day stamp breaks up the background, and how the small touches of brown in the characters ties it all together.

I think I might come back with an Early Espresso watercolour pencil and just add a bit of brown to the bear and the turtle. What do you think?

Pebbled Path is obviously a very popular colour, easy to work with, because there are 13 talented ladies on our blog hop tonight. Please go and visit all of them, starting with lovely Caroline - click on the box below to go to her blog!

AWH 2023-2024 Colour Creations - Moody Mauve

This week the Art With Heart Team explores the amazing new In Colour, Moody Mauve in our Colour Creations Blog Hop.

Blog Header Image

You are going to love this colour! It goes so well in many of our colour combinations. In our new catalogue, the Moody Mauve is showcased with the other four new In Colors in the Fresh As a Daisy Suite Collection, and I have chosen that suite and a couple of those colours to share with you tonight, along with one of our brand new Colour Refresh Colours.

How pretty is that colour combination!! I cased my card and the colour scheme direct from page 110 of the catalogue.  I just made a couple of subtle changes to the card shown in the middle of the page. For example, I made a much larger card - 6" x 5 1/2" so there is more space around the flowers and you get to see more of the Designer Series Paper underneath.

Also, I used Moody Mauve card stock for the base of my card. And I switched out the Pebbled Path circle for a Basic White tag,  using the tag die that comes in the Cheerful Daisies Dies.

for my background layer of Bubble Path Pink card, I used the beautiful Fern 3D embossing folder. I am so happy that this embossing folder carried over from the past catalogue.

Colour Creations - 2023-2024 - Copper Clay

This week, the Art with Heart Team share the second of our brand new In Colors, in our Colour Creations Blog Hop.

Blog Header Image

Copper Clay is a glowing warm baked cookie brown - much like the gingernuts my grandmother used to make.

This week I have used Copper Clay for the base of my card, and to set the scene of cute ballerinas on stage - a Copper Clay stage in a Copper Clay theatre!

The cute dancers come from the Zoo Crew Designer Series Paper, and the dies which cut out the dancers, flowers AND the stage curtains are from the Zany Zoo Dies, all part of the Zoo Crew Suite Collection.

I love the way the Copper Clay stands in and takes the place of the traditional dark red theatre curtains. It is a lovely earthy shade which makes a beautiful background for the Petal Pink, Pumpkin Pie and Pool Party in the other images.

Colour Creations 2023-2024 - Boho Blue

Welcome to a whole new Stampin' Up! catalogue and a wonderful colour refresh!

Blog Header Image

We start the new round of Blog Hops with the new 2023-2025 In Colors, and this week we have a great new Blue!

My favourite new product suite is Zoo Crew, I love the fun images in the stamp set and dies, and the gorgeous coordinating Designer Series Paper. So today I have made two simple cards, with a bit of fussy cutting, and mixing and matching the Designer Series Paper with several other packs, to show off our lovely new Boho Blue.

Zany Zoo Boho Blue Cards (1)

The first card is a simple Z-fold card, where the front is folded back on itself, and I have layered it with a mixture of pieces. The Night of Navy scallop edge is cut with a die from the Zany Zoo Dies.

The cute star background DSP is from the Bright & Beautiful DSP pack. The striped paper inside the card is from the Countryside Inn DSP pack.

Zany Zoo Boho Blue Cards (3)

The elephant and cute little scooting bunny are from the Zoo Crew DSP pack and I have added a touch of Boho Blue to the elephant's body using a water painter to pick up just a tiny bit of Boho Blue ink from the Classic Ink Pad. Both images are fussy cut using my trusty snips.

Zany Zoo Boho Blue Cards (2)

My second card is a basic landscape card, using Boho Blue card for the base, and more paper from the Bright & Beautiful DSP pack for the background layers, over Night of Navy scallops.

Zany Zoo Boho Blue Cards (5)

This time, I die-cut the alligator from the Designer Series Paper. On both cards, the main image is mounted onto a die-cut rectangle using the Scalloped Contours Dies. Also on this card, I tested out the beautiful Boho Blue Textured Ribbon, across the middle of the card. Despite the texture, it has a lovely sheen.
