Colour Creations - Calypso Coral

Today the Art With Heart team Colour Creators are showcasing Calypso Coral.

Header

I find Calypso Coral a challenging colour to work with. Not that I don't like it, but its not orange, it's not red, it's not really pink, it's a kind of in between colour. And it's also a strong colour.

To show it off, for the bold colour it is, I have deliberately teamed it with just one other colour, plus the white base card, for a couple of simple projects today.

From page 16 of the Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue, I have selected the Bottled Happiness Bundle, which includes the Bottled Happiness stamp set and Vintage Bottle Punch.

I stamped the leaves with Parakeet Party Ink, then stamped the flowers and bottle with Calypso Coral. The bottle is stamped on a separate piece and punched out, then overlayed on to the card layers.

Card layers are Basic White and Calypso Coral. I was chatting to people on Zoom as I was creating today, so rather than getting out tons of supplies, I just gathered up pieces from my stash that were cut previously, and made them into new designs.

I can't believe I completed two cards while talking to people on Zoom! Just goes to show what you can create with the supplies you have at arms length.

I think these two colours look great with all that crisp white space around them. On a mantlepiece full of cards, this would surely stand out.

Stunning colour combination Kathryn, I do like all of the white space on your cards.

Tina Gillespie

Wow, I thought that your colour combo might be too much, but I really love it! The two work so nicely together, but I think the key is small doses! LOL. Good on you for being so productive while chatting!

Catherine Proctor

Kathryn, I agree that these two colours look great with all that crisp white space around them – this is a fabulous colour combo and design for a colour that can be very tricky to work with!

CHRISTINE BLAIN

I agree, the limited (and bold) colour palette looks really striking, to showcase Calypso Coral, Kathryn. Beautifully done ... and well done, getting these cards made whilst talking on Zoom!

Andrea Sargent

Beautiful cards Kathryn - I love them both. A striking colour combo and you are right the white space shows of the stamping brilliantly. The different background division is great. Xxx

Rosa Leyden

Love the bright green with calypso coral Kathryn. The stamped flowers and foliage looks fabulous!

Theresa Gerrard

I agree with you Kathryn, Calypso Coral is a strong colour and you choosing Parakeet Party to go with it is a great choice that is balanced by the white space. You did well to complete them both during the zoom!

Amie

I love your colour combination on this card, which looks fantastic as flowers in a bottle.

Kate Morgan

Yes, the white space is fantastic with your gorgeous bold colour combination stamping those lovely flowers. I thought you may be inspired to use Calypso Coral with the stunning sunsets we have been experiencing!

Sharon Davern

Hehe! See lots of things can be accomplished while talking to friends on zoom! Great cards and the colours work together well! I love the parakeet party for the contrasting colour!
