Colour Creations - Basic Gray

Hi! I am back after a short hiatus! Moving to the country and getting set up on the farm will do that!

Header

I am glad to be back joining in with the Art With Heart Colour Creations Blog Hop tonight with a classic colour - Basic Gray.

It's great to revisit these timeless colours that have been in the Stampin' Up! colour families for many years, and to see how they continue to be so versatile with the newer products.

This week, for a little fun, and also by way of reminder that time is fast running out for the January to June Mini Catalogue, I wanted to use a stamp set that is only available for a couple more weeks. This stamp set is one you can earn for free with a $250 order (which can be a combined order between friends).

I really love the cute images and handy greetings in the Mischievous Mice host rewards stamp set. And when I saw that this week is Basic Gray, I had to colour some little gray mice.

I made a very basic Z fold card - just take a standard A6 card and fold the front back on itself. I used Basic Gray card for my base card, and a piece of Basic White for the inside.

I embossed an extra piece of Basic Gray card with the Bricks & Mortar 3D embossing folder, then touched the embossed image very gently onto the Basic Gray ink pad to highlight some of the texture.

The mice were stamped with Basic Gray ink onto Basic White card then coloured with Smoky Slate, Calypso Coral, So Saffron, Daffodil Delight & Mango Melody Stampin' Blends Duos. I also used the Colour Lifter in a couple of places on the mice fur.

The images were fussy cut with my trusty Stampin' Snips.

The mouse with the balloon was popped up with Stampin' Dimensionals.

The mouse with the cheese was stuck flat on the inside of the card.

I have always loved gray and yellow as a colour combination, and I think the different tones created by the Basic Gray Ink on the Basic Gray cardstock, and the different shades of yellow work perfectly with these images to create a super cute universal card.

Now, it's time to check out the rest of the blog hop and see what the other talented ladies in the Art With Heart Stampin' Team have created with Basic Gray. Please go on and visit my friend Theresa by clicking on the "NEXT" image below.

Aww! How cute! Your mice look amazing, as does the awesome brick wall you've created. I hope that the only mice in your house are rubber or ink ones!

CHRISTINE BLAIN

I love the "brick wall" embossed panel, Kathryn ... the addition of Basic Gray ink to the raised surface makes it look so much more textural. The cute images look great stamped in Basic Gray, and I agree that yellow is a beautiful complement to grey.

Sharon Davern

Such a great idea to use the blend of yellows with Basic Gray. They compliment each other beautifully. The sponging of the brickwork makes it look more realistic and dimensional.
