AWH Colour Creations - Gorgeous Grape

Hi! It's Kathryn here!

Welcome to Week 18 of the Colour Creations Showcase where the talented Art With Heart Stampin' Up! team members share amazing creations focusing on one particular colour from the Stampin' Up! colour families.

AWH Colour Creations Blog Header

This week we are showcasing Gorgeous Grape - a popular new purple in the Stampin' Up! range.

Colour Creations Showcase

www.katlodesigns.com

Right back at the start of the 2020 Colour Creations Showcase, when we looked at Blackberry Bliss and Blushing Bride, I chose to use pieces from the absolutely delicious Gorgeous Posies Card Kit.

This week I found myself going back to the Gorgeous Posies card kit, because the colour combination is so beautiful!  And I threw in a little surprise so I could make a magical little message to send out to someone like me, still dealing with Stage 4 lockdown in Melbourne.

Gorgeous Posies Card Kit & Flight of Fancy Stampin Up (2)
How cute is this little witch and her pet mouse from the Flight of Fancy stamp set?  I think Gorgeous Grape is the perfect colour for this cheerful little "good witch".

How can she spread anything but joy with those colours!

Flight of Fancy Stampin' Up

I stamped the cute image on Thick Whisper White card with Black Stazon Ink, then used a Blender Pen with the Gorgeous Grape inkpad to colour her dress, hat and the mouse. The yellow on the broom and the stars and her hair is Bumble Bee Stampin' Write Marker and the broom stick and shadows on the straw are Cinnamon Cider Stampin' Write Marker - applied direct to the image.

The image was fussy cut with paper snips. You can't see it on these images, but I also used a Sponge Dauber to apply Blushing Bride ink to her face.

Gorgeous Posies Card Kit & Flight of Fancy Stampin Up (4)

The label on the front of the card is a mixture of words made up from 3 separate stamp sets:

  • "Sending you" comes from Comfort & Hope Stamp set
  • "A little" comes from Gnome for the Holidays stamp set
  • "Magic" comes from Poinsettia Petals stamp set

Each of the words were inked with the Gorgeous Grape Stampin' Write marker and stamped "near" each other for a whimsical little greeting.

Gorgeous Posies Card Kit & Flight of Fancy Stampin Up (1)

I added half a dozen Champagne Rhinestones to the front for that extra magic bling, and the final step was to include a Whisper White insert inside the Gorgeous Grape base card. Along the bottom of the insert I stamped the sparkle image from Flight of Fancy in Gorgeous Grape ink.

I'd love to know what you think, so you're very welcome to leave a comment if you'd like, then please check out all our other beautiful Gorgeous Grape creations in the Colour Creation Showcase. Once again, lovely Cathy is hosting and the full list of participants can be found at her blog here.

Hope to see you again soon!

Social Stamping! Baby!

8F86E9DE-08AB-4A58-A251-E7E9A542DBF3

Hi! It’s Kathryn here!

It's been a while since I joined in with the Social Stamping group, but I couldn't resist this month’s theme, as we recently got the exciting news that we are going to be grandparents for the first time early next year!

Moving Along Stampin' Up (5)
Gorgeous Kelly is our blog host and you may have arrived here from her blog where she has the full list of participants, or you may be starting here. Either way, welcome! To get back to Kelly’s blog and see the rest of the Baby creations click here.

Stampin’ Up! Baby Colours

www.katlodesigns.com

I think that I am pretty bad at coming up with ideas for masculine cards, but I don’t seem to have troubles with that when we are talking about babies. Stampin’ Up! has such gorgeous pastel colours for traditional or modern baby colour schemes.

Moving Along Stampin' Up (6)

I don’t have many baby sets, but I recently got Moving Along, because I know I will use it next year!

This is a two-step stamping set - there are outline stamps and blocks of colour for filling the images. And lots of cute other stamps to create cards with individual images or make full scenes. I think this stamp set would make awesome diorama cards, but today I have just gone for a standard fold card but with lots of layers.

Moving Along Stampin' Up (1)

I love how the block stamps fill in the colour on the outline images so nicely. For the image colours I've used Seaside Spray, Mint Macaron and Crumb Cake, and the same for the scallop layers under each of those stitched squares.

For the larger layer underneath I have used Just Jade for the scalloped layer. Notice the gorgeous embossing on the larger white layer? That's the Dainty Diamonds 3D embossing folder which is in the Stampin' Up! annual catalogue.

Moving Along Stampin' Up (2)

I'd love you to leave me a comment and let me know what you think, and if you would like to see a list of all the products used, they are right at the bottom of this post. To continue on blog hop and see the rest of the gorgeous creations, please click on the next image below and it will take you to Julia's blog to see what she has made.

AWH Colour Creations - Garden Green

Garden Green is such a popular Christmas colour . . . I would be guilty of never using it any other time of the year for anything else.

And that is what I LOVE about this Colour Creations Showcase I am participating in with the Art With Heart Stampin' Up! team. It makes me think about Stampin' Up! colours that I rarely use, or that I only use in one way and I am trying new ways of using them.

Colour Creations Showcase

www.katlodesigns.com

For Garden Green this week, I selected the Rooted In Nature Stamp set. I have had this stamp set for a long time, but like Garden Green, it has had very limited use! Shame on me!

Taking my inspiration from a card by UK demonstrator Kate Bolt, I decided to do a Beginner crafters card, a casual crafters card and an experienced crafters card - 3 versions of the same card but stepped to suit different levels of crafters.

Rooted In Nature Stampin' Up (1)

The beginners card is a single layer card with the skeleton leaves from Rooted in Nature stamped in Pear Pizzazz, Pumpkin Pie and Terracotta Tile, with the greeting stamped in Garden Green over the top.

Rooted In Nature Stampin' Up (6)

My Terracotta Tile ink pad is brand new and very inky, so it ended up a little blotchy even though I stamped it off.

For the smaller leaves on each end, can you see that I inked them first with Pear Pizzazz, then just light dipped one end in Pumpkin Pie for a two-tone image?

Rooted In Nature Stampin' Up (2)

For my second card, this is very similar to Kate Bolt's card. Kate used Granny Apple Green which I switched out for Garden Green, and I also added Pumpkin Pie to this card. For the twine I have used the Misty Moonlight and Whisper White Bakers Twine from the Flowers For Every Season Ribbon Combo Pack

Rooted In Nature Stampin' Up (5)

Some Metallic Pearls added some extra bling.

For the third card, I changed to a Garden Green base card and added a Whisper White window on the front.

Rooted In Nature Stampin' Up (3)

There are lots of Stampin' Dimensionals used on this card to pop up the three layers! I have also changed from Pumpkin Pie to Soft Suede, though in hindsight, I think I would change back as the Soft Suede makes the whole card feel a bit darker, whereas the Pumpkin Pie would have been bright.

Rooted In Nature Stampin' Up (4)

I really enjoyed challenging myself with a colour that I rarely use for anything but Christmas, and a stamp set which I have not used again since the first time I opened it a couple of years ago . . .

If you would like to see what my talented stampin' buddies have been creating with Garden Green, please pop over to Cathy's blog where you can find all the links to all of their amazing projects.

Also, I would love it if you would leave me  a comment as feedback, AND I also want to say, thanks so much to everyone who ordered today in the Stampin' Up! 24 hour sale! What a busy day!  If you haven't ordered yet - the sale finishes at midnight tonight! Get on it!

See you soon with ink on your fingers!

AWH Colour Creations - Flirty Flamingo

Welcome back to Wednesday night's little treat! And what a treat it is! What DO you do with a bright strawberry gelati colour?

The Art With Heart Team creative ladies are going to show you tonight with our Colour Creation Showcase of Flirty Flamingo.

Bright pink makes me cringe. However, I happen to know that LOTS of people LIKE bright pink. So, I keep a favourite colour combination up my sleeve that never fails to work - and by keeping the brightest pink to the smallest percentage of colour on the project, you can get away with it!

Colour Creations Showcase

www.katlodesigns.com

This week I have used a brand new stamp set which just arrived in the mail on Monday. It is part of a stamp set / dies bundle in the Annual Catalogue, however, I opted to only purchase the stamp set because I couldn't really see myself using the dies - and that means I can get more stamp sets, right?

Prize Peony Stampin' Up cards (1)

The stamp set is Prized Peonies. I have stamped the main image with Basic Gray ink on Thick Whisper White card, then rather than cutting the whole peony image out, I have used my trimmer to cut a straight line about 1cm in from the left edge of the image - lifting the trimmer blade over the leaves, then continuing on the same line below the leaves.

Then on the bottom of the image I have done the same, lifting the trimmer blade over the stem, then continuing the cut after the stem. Then I used my Paper Snips to trim around the leaves and stem so they appear to stick out from the white layer of the card, even though it is only one piece.

Prize Peony Stampin' Up cards (2)

The image is coloured using the Flirty Flamingo and the Granny Apple Green Blends Duos.

The other large peony stamp in the set is stamped in Flirty Flamingo Ink onto Blushing Bride card stock for the base card.

The gorgeous trellis effect die cut in Basic Gray is from the Fabulous Florals Dies. The final addition to the front of the card is a couple of Champagne Rhinestones touched up with the Dark Flirty Flamingo Blend.

And of course, you must stamp the inside!  I have left it without a greeting for now - I am saving space for a happy birthday stamp!

Prize Peony Stampin' Up cards (3)

I hope you will pop over to Cathy's blog to see the rest of the Flirty Flamingo creations and learn how our talented team have incorporated this bold colour into their crafting.

If you have time, please leave me a comment and I hope to see you back again next week for Garden Green!

See you then!

AWH Colour Creations - Early Espresso

Welcome to Week 15 of the Art With Heart Colour Creations Showcase. This week we have an important staple colour : Early Espresso - the new Black!

Click the image to see ALL the Early Espresso options in my online store . . .

For the previous 14 weeks of Colour Creations, I have been making really feminine cards. With a strong colour this week, I wanted to step outside my comfort zone and create a masculine card.

I have spent a great deal of time over the last week planning my World Card Making Day event using the Tag Buffet Project Kit and Stamp set.  The images in the stamp set are simple and bold, and so I was keen to see if I could pull off a masculine Christmas card using Early Espresso. You know every year when you have that one single, male family member that you want to send a Christmas Card too, but all your cards seem to "frilly and fussy"?

Tag Buffet Stampin' Up cards (1)

Who would have ever thought of a brown Christmas card?  But, I like it!

Not frilly, not fussy, perfectly suitable for an adult male - favourite uncle or older brother.

Tag Buffet Stampin' Up cards (2)

The lovely background layer is one of the Early Espresso pieces from the Regals Designer Series Paper Pack. The stocking is stamped on a separate piece of Very Vanilla card, lightly coloured in part with the Crumb Cake Blends Duos, and fussy cut as it is such a simple shape to cut out.

Thanks for stopping by! Please leave me a comment and let me know what you think.

If you would like to see the rest of the Early Espresso creations by our talented artists, go to Cathy's blog here.

See you next week!

AWH Colour Creations - Daffodil Delight

This week's Art With Heart team Colour Creation Showcase is one of my favourite colours!

We are focusing on Daffodil Delight, which is simply just a pure bright yellow.  It is perfect for colour combinations incorporating other primary colours because on the colour wheel it is the perfect yellow.

Colour Creations Showcase

www.katlodesigns.com

Daffodil Delight sings of sunshine to me, and since we have just slid sideways into spring and have been having some lovely sunshine (despite the pretty crook wind), I really wanted to make some sunshiney happy cards.

Under My Umbrella Stampin Up card (1)

I selected the Under My Umbrella stamp set and Umbrella Builder Punch, and had some very relaxing time colouring the images with some of our lovely bright Stampin' Blends - the alcohol markers blend so beautifully to give your coloured images a 3D look.

Under My Umbrella Stampin Up card (3)

For this first card I stamped the Buffalo Check background stamp with Daffodil Delight ink for one of the layers mounted on Daffodil Delight card stock.  The white layer is cut with the largest scallop rectangle die from the Stitched So Sweetly die set and randomly stamped with the rain drops stamp in Balmy Blue ink.

Under My Umbrella Stampin' Up cards (1)

The second card has squares cut from the Stitched Shapes Dies, and even though you can't see it in this photo, the white square is also embossed with the Subtle Embossing Folder. I meant to add some of the yellow adhesive sequins from the Box of Sunshine Paper Pumpkin kit but forgot at the last minute.

The raindrops are stamped directly onto the base card with Daffodil Delight ink.

Under My Umbrella Stampin' Up cards (2)

All of the layers are popped up with Stampin' Dimensionals and I have used a couple of Mini Glue Dots just to secure some of the flower bunches a bit more.

Under My Umbrella Stampin' Up cards (3)

Hello Sunshine is inked with Poppy Parade ink. Don't you just love this cheerful, happy, fresh colour combination? It's really improved my mood today!

If you would like to see the rest of the sunshiney creations using Daffodil Delight please head over to Cathy's blog where you will find all the links.

Thanks for checking in on my projects, I really love making these each week!

See you again soon with ink on your fingers!
