AWH Colour Creations - Crushed Curry

Wow, who's excited that it's Wednesday again and that means Week 13 of the Art With Heart Colour Creations Showcase!

The sun is shining in Melbourne today - after a pretty cold, miserable past week, so it's lovely to have the sun filtering through the curtains onto the bright cheery Crushed Curry project I have been working on. With all the inspiration in the last week or so of the Box of Sunshine Paper Pumpkin kit that people have been using, I wanted to do a lovely cheery floral card.

When I was deciding what to use for this project, I didn't have a catalogue handy, so I jumped online to my Stampin' Up! online store to look for big substantial floral images (and preferably one that I already own!!).  The first key word I tried was "rose" and to my surprise, the beautiful Christmas Rose Bundle came up.

Christmas Rose Bundle 153944
This bundle was available in around the middle of last year to kind of keep us going with Christmas projects before the Holiday Catalogue came out. It was a while stocks last item and for some reason I had in my head that it was only available for the one month in which it came out.  Turns out, it is (and has been) still available, all this time!

So, I was delighted to pull out my set and make another card with it - although this time, rather than a red Christmas rose, I have gone for Crushed Curry. It's the perfect pick me up colour for Melbourne in Stage 4 Lockdown in winter!

Christmas Rose Stampin' Up Crushed Curry (1)

In last week's Colour Creation Showcase I used Very Versailles stamp set as the feature set. This week, I pulled it out again, and used it as the background set, stamping all of the images in Crushed Curry ink on the Whisper White background layer.

Then I stamped the main rose image in Black Stazon ink on another piece of Whisper White and using the Stamparatus, I stamped the solid images (the colour) in Mossy Meadow, Mango Melody, Crumb Cake and Crushed Curry onto that. I then die-cut that piece with the coordinating Rose die.

Christmas Rose Stampin' Up Crushed Curry (2)

I stamped an extra main rose image in Black Stazon on Whisper White, and just stamped the solid image for the Rose in Crushed Curry on this image. I hand cut the rose and bud out and using Dimensionals, popped them up on top of the full colour image.

I added 5 of the sequins from the Box of Sunshine Paper Pumpkin kit because they reflect the yellow beautifully. And the one of the rose petal almost looks like a dew drop. And for a bit of extra texture, I die-cut the lovely fretwork trellis die from the Rose Dies pack also in Crushed Curry. I really love how it adds to the texture and interest of the card without stealing the thunder of the main image.

Thank you for visiting again! I would love it if you are able to leave me a comment, but then also, please do go and visit the other talented ladies in this Creation Showcase and see what THEY have done with beautiful Crushed Curry.

You will find the links to all of their blogs on Cathy's blog post HERE.

See you next week with a different shade of ink on your fingers!

Yellow roses are beautiful, and I love what you've done with this image Kathryn.

Caroline Manwaring

A beautiful card, Kathryn. I love all of the background stamping on the Whisper White giving a fresh, bright look to the design.

Andrea Sargent

A gorgeous card Kathryn. I love your background layers of stamping - I think you have convinced me to add Very Versailles to my next order. I'd missed that the Christmas Rose bundle was still available - must get it out. I do love your Crushed Curry rose - so vibrant. Thanks for the inspiration. xxx

Tina Gillespie

I really love yellow roses, and I think yours is just gorgeous. The background is fabulous, and I love the addition of the extra layer on the rose.

Oh Kathryn was a find to discover this set is still available! I love yellow roses and your card is simply stunning. Thank you for sharing your Crushed Curry inspiration with us this week xx

Don't tell my husband but it took him years to work out that my favourite colour rose was yellow and I mean years! My Mum had a yellow rose in the middle of her yard when we were growing up and everyone else had pinks or all colours but my Mum had 2 yellow roses as well. I have loved them since a child and I love what you have done tonight this is a gorgeous card. I really must get the Very Versailles stamp set it is gorgeous as a backdrop to your roses!

Kate Morgan

Ooh I love your background stamping behind the stunning yellow rose, Kathryn. The addition of that lattice die really adds a wonderful depth too.

Theresa Gerrard

Oh I do like that colour combo Kathryn! Lots of elements to love with this card

Ros Davidson

Your rose looks gorgeous in yellow and I didn't know that this stamp set was still available either.
