Welcome to week 11 of the Art With Heart team - Colour Creations Showcase where members of the Art With Heart Stampin' Up! team come together each week to explore one of the Stampin' Up! colours. We are gradually working our way through them alphabetically.
This week we have beautiful cool Coastal Cabana to showcase.
When I started thinking about this project, I had a strong urge to use one of my most favourite products in the new mini catalogue - the Plush Poinsettia Specialty Paper - a luscious flocked vellum.
I started by pulling it out together with a stack of products in Coastal Cabana - there's quite a few to choose from - so lots of options.
One of the awesome features of the Plush Poinsettia Paper is the shape of the images matches the dies so you can cut out individual flowers, leaves and sprigs of berries! I love this!
Without even having a design in mind, I just cut out half a dozen images and start laying them out on the other Coastal Cabana patterned papers to see what is going to look lovely together.
I even cut out some of the "part" flowers from the edges of the papers to layer onto my card front for extra texture and depth - so subtle, but it just pushes some of the snowflakes further back and adds another dimension - so use up those scraps!
I stamped a couple of poinsettia images in Coastal Cabana ink on Whisper White card and cut with the same die that I used for cutting the flocked flowers. And I cut a rectangle frame using 2 of the Stitched Rectangle Dies.
These dies are THE BEST because they have the stitched lines on the inside AND the outside of the cutting line, so you can use the leftover piece for another card and it also has the stitching!
Of course I had to use up that extra rectangle, so it went onto the main card with the vellum poinsettias.
I know not everyone is into blue and sparkly Christmas cards, but I do think these are really pretty and I am pleased with how they turned out so easily because of the clever way that so many Stampin' Up! products coordinate so well with each other!
