Art With Heart Colour Creations - Cherry Cobbler

AWH Colour Creations Blog Header

Week 9 of the Art With Heart Colour Creations Showcase is a favourite colour for lots of people!

I grew up thinking of Christmas Red as the same fire engine red of Santa's suit. In Stampin' Up! terms this would be Real Red and it was certainly the first red ink pad I purchased from Stampin' Up! But then a few years later, along came Cherry Cobbler - now this is a red that makes any shade of green into a traditional Christmas palette.

Just about every year for the last 13 years since I joined Stampin' Up! as a demonstrator, I have been running a Christmas in July event. That couldn't happen this year with our Stage 3 Lockdown here in Melbourne, but I can't let July go by without doing something Christmassy, and especially since it's Cherry Cobbler week!

Dove of Hope Stampin' Up! cards (2)

Are you excited about the new Aug-Dec Catalogue coming out late next week?  I am!! These two cards feature 4 new products that will be in the catalogue - Christmas ones of course!

Dove of Hope Stampin' Up! cards (1)

The cards feature the Dove of Hope Bundle and include 2 other products from the Wonder of the Season Suite : 'Tis the Season Designer Series paper which if full of traditional Christmas colours and designs, and Wonder of the Season Cards and Envelopes which have beautiful red foil accents.

Dove of Hope Stampin' Up! cards (4)

For the first card, I cut a window in the card front using a scallop rectangle from the Stitched So Sweetly Dies.

I used a Cherry Cobbler card base with the DSP adhered to it then adhered the "frame" using the Foam Adhesive Strips to pop it up a bit higher. The dove was adhered with Stampin' Dimensionals.

For the second card I used up the stitched rectangle which I had cut out of the front of the first card, and the leftover strip of DSP as the basis of a new design.  I embossed some Whisper White with the utterly gorgeous Dainty Diamonds 3D embossing folder - thank you to all my enabler demonstrator friends who "MADE" me buy it!

And I arranged the dove's wings slightly differently - Oh boy! I love how they work both ways!

Don't forget to decorate the inside of your cards!

Dove of Hope Stampin' Up! cards (3)

The Designer Series paper is in a pack of 48 - 24 different double sided designs with a good mix of traditional Christmas images but also patterns that could be used for masculine or other occasions cards!

AWH Colour Creations - Calypso Coral

Welcome again for another Art With Heart Team Colour Creations Showcase. Each week some talented Stampin' Up! demonstrators for Claire Daly's team are show casing a colour out of the Stampin' Up! range. We are working our way through the alphabet and this is week 8, so if you haven't seen our colour showcase before, be sure to hit the home button at the top of the page and scroll down through my blog to see each week's showcase.

Week Eight of Colour Creations Showcase brings us Calypso Coral and I have created a colour suggestion chart for you based on the colours in the Ornate Garden Specialty Designer Series Paper.

Colour Creations Showcase

www.katlodesigns.com

Calypso Coral is not actually one of the colours in the paper, but it works beautifully with Terracotta Tile and is a great contrasting colour for the greens in the paper.

I am SO excited to show you what I made with Calypso Coral and the Ornate Garden paper. I selected a Christmas stamp set from our August-December Mini Catalogue (starting in a couple of weeks) and I made some NON-Christmas cards that are perfect timing for our miserable Round #2 Stage 3 Wear Your Mask Everywhere Covid19 Lockdown.

Gnome for the Holidays Stampin Up Cards

Aghhhhhhhhhhhhh!!! How CUTE are those Gnomes?  I LOVE them!

The stamp set is called Gnome For The Holidays and is an 8 piece Cling Rubber stamp set.

When I stamped the images I used some Washi tape to mask off the particularly Christmas bits, and I added the tiny flower from the Special Someone stamp set as it was a perfect fit for their little hands.

I've used the Calypso Coral Stampin' Blends for most of the colouring on the images - along with Crumb Cake, Pool Party & Old Olive, and Calypso Coral Cardstock for the scallop layer under each image, as well as two of the base cards.

These ones are definitely going out in the mail to cheer up someone stuck at home in miserable wintery Melbourne.

Most of the products I've used are shown below (except the Gnome stamp set which is not available until August).

If you'd like to see the rest of the Calypso Coral Creations this week, here is the link to Cathy's blog . You will find all of the links to the other artists there.

I would love you to leave a comment by going to the comments tab right at the bottom of this post - I love reading what you think!

Take care, stay safe!

AWH Colour Creations - Cajun Craze

Yippee! Are you still with us for Week 7 of the Colour Creations Showcase?

AWH Colour Creations Blog Header

This week is one of my favourite, but rarely used colours - Cajun Craze.  I know it sounds silly since I don't use it very often, but every time I do use it, I think - I just LOVE Cajun Craze! It's such a warm, vibrant colour and it seems to go SO well with so many other colours!

World of Good Stampin Up Cajun Craze Colour Creations Showcase (2)

This week I have chosen to use Cajun Craze as my base colour and for all of the stamping on the cards, and I have teamed it with the World of Good Suite including stamp set, dies and Specialty Designer Series paper featuring the beautiful new In Colour Cinnamon Cider.  These are both really simple, easy cards, a little bit of stamping, a little bit of embossing and a little bit of die cutting.

The talented Art With Heart ladies who are participating in the Colour Creations Showcase would LOVE you to visit each of their blogs to see what they have created - you are just going to fall in love with Cajun Craze, the warm, yummy, versatile colour.

To visit the other blogs, please pop over to Cathy's blog where she has a link for each person - oh, and if you have time, please also leave a comment or two as you visit, so we know what you think! ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

Freshly Brewed Projects - Tags and Labels

This week I am joining in with the Freshly Brewed Team for another great little blog hop.

We are exploring how tags and/or labels can be use on a papercraft project, but not just as tags or labels. What a fun challenge!

I think I cheated and took the easy route!

A background of layered tags all in a gorgeous patchwork effect.

IMG_4244

I just love all the beautiful blues in the Boho Indigo Kit with it's lovely brushed gold highlights.  I started by cutting out a heap of tags from the Trio of Tags Dies, then layering them on a cardfront size piece of Night of Navy card.

IMG_4242

The effect is so pretty I didn't even want to put anything else on there! LOL

But, what's the point of making a card with no sentiment or message? So I bit the bullet and used some of the ribbon and tags also from the Boho Indigo Kit to complete it.

IMG_4243

I'm not entirely convinced that I love how it's finished, but it was quite a quick card to make and I really do love the background!

If you would like to see the rest of the creations in our little blog hop group, the list of participants is below.

Please leave some blog love (a comment) and I do hope you enjoyed these inspiring projects.

See you soon!

AWH Colour Creations - Bumblebee

Hello!!

AWH Colour Creations Blog Header

It's week 6 of the Art With Heart Colour Creations Showcase and this week we are buzzing around like little Bumble Bees!

I haven’t purchased the Bumble Bee Ink Pad yet, but I had card stock AND I had 2 lots of Designer Series Papers that had plenty of Bumble Bee in the designs - the Flowers for Every Season DSP and the Ornate Garden DSP.

Four Season Floral Stampin' Up Bumblebee (2)

In the end I settled on Flowers for Every Season so it would coordinate with the Four Season Floral Stamp Set I wanted to use - and I kept the colour scheme VERY simple, just Bumble Bee and Whisper White with some black stamped images.

Colour Creations Showcase

www.katlodesigns.com

In light of the announcement of Stage 3 Covid19 restrictions that hit Melbourne at 4pm yesterday, I chose the Comfort and Hope stamp from the Comfort and Hope stamp set so that today I could post out three very timely cards for friends who I am particularly thinking of now that we are back in Stay at Home restrictions.

Four Season Floral Stampin' Up Bumblebee (1)

Why three? Well the design I have used - which was inspired by very cute Zebra cards by Emma Goddard lends itself to making 3 cards at once - as you cut each piece into 3 for the front panel.

Four Season Floral Stampin' Up Bumblebee (4)

I have used one die each from the Rectangle Stitched Dies and the Stitched So Sweetly Dies to cut out the sentiment panel. The stamped roses from Four Season Floral are actually coloured with Stampin’ Blends - Daffodil Delight Dark & Light and Light Crumb Cake, and each of the coloured images are fussy cut with my Stampin’ Snips - they are very easy images to quickly cut out.

As usual, don't forget to stamp the inside! I keep it nice and simple!

Four Season Floral Stampin' Up Bumblebee (6)

The sentiment on the inside is also from the Comfort and Hope stamp set and reads "Sending you a paper hug".

Well, that's my creation for the week! If you would like to see what the other Art With Heart talented ladies have made with a Bumble Bee colour scheme, please pop over to Cathy's blog where you will find the list of creators.

Products I have used are listed below - click on them for more details, and I would love you to leave me a comment!

Thanks for checking in for week 6!

AWH Colour Creations - Blushing Bride

Welcome to Week 5 of our Colour Creations Showcase where members of Claire's Art With Heart Stampin' Up! team are taking a journey through the whole Stampin' Up! colour range in alphabetical order.

Colour 5 is Blushing Bride - which I guess you either love or hate! LOL

I'd be the first to confess it's not a pink I have ever been particularly drawn to as it's not a pure clean pink, it has grey undertones making it look quite dirty next to some of our fresh crisp colours.  And yet last year we had the beautiful Magnolia Lane paper which coordinated beautifully with it. And this year at a push it works well as a tone on tone colour with some of the In Good Taste and Peony Garden Designer Series Paper packs, proving it is quite a versatile colour!

Last week I worked with the Gorgeous Posies Card Kit for our Blackberry Bliss showcase. The card kit also features Blushing Bride and try as I might, I could not step away from it!

A couple of weeks ago, my dear friend Sharon Davern who is also participating in the Colour Creations Showcases posted a Bermuda Bay card demonstrating the Double Open Joy Fold card - there's one I had never heard of before! (Click on the card name to see it).

I loved Sharon's card so much, I straight away wanted to use one of the card fronts in the Gorgeous Posies Kit to do a Blushing Bride version!

Gorgeous Posie Stampin' Up cards (8)

Now I want to make a hundred of them! So cute!

Gorgeous Posie Stampin' Up cards (1)
I used one card front and one label from the card kit, and teamed it with some extra Gold Foil Card, Blushing Bride card, the Blushing Bride woolly texture paper from In Good Taste DSP pack, some Blushing Bride stamping on Whisper White for the panels to write on and I stamped the front sentiment in Calypso Coral - just because my Blushing Bride ink pad stamps greetings a little too light to read.

Gorgeous Posie Stampin' Up cards (4)

Oh my gosh, how good is all that colour coordination?
