AWH Colour Creations - Blackberry Bliss

Welcome to Week 4 of Claire’s Art With Heart Team Colour Creation Showcase!

This week we have the heavenly Blackberry Bliss to steal your soul!

It's once of my favourite colours for it's richness and warmth. When I saw this colour on our list for week 4, I instantly thought of a gorgeous new kit that Stampin’ Up! have just released. Mine had only just arrived in the mail, so I couldn’t wait to open it and see just how well it did go with Blackberry Bliss so I could use it for this colour showcase.

It’s the GORGEOUS POSIES KIT and Blackberry Bliss goes beautifully, complimenting the soft feminine colours and images. This kit has an absolutely gorgeous colour scheme and a splash of shiny gold. Oh! I DO love it!

The kit has really lovely, but quite basic cards - simple enough for beginners to enjoy making, but with a lot of wow factor. However, those of you who know me well, know that 25 years of stamping means when I see a kit like this, I want to step it right up and use the pieces to create something that will make even the very experienced crafters want to buy the kit!

I had in mind to start with Twisted Easel cards, but I’ve made so many of them over the years, I wasn’t feeling challenged enough. But I googled easel cards anyway to see what might come up and found this amazing project by Jan B.

A Triple easel card! She has such easy to follow clear instructions and you can actually fast forward through bits of the video just to pull out the relevant measurements and where to put the glue.

So, what does it look like made with the Gorgeous Posies Kit?

Despite all the folds and layers, the easel cards still fold flat and small enough to fit in our standard envelope.

I used two of the card fronts out of the kit along with 2 die cut labels and a small die-cut printed flower.

I used the stamp set to stamp an extra large flower in Blackberry Bliss and some extra leave.  The greetings were also stamped with Blackberry Bliss and as you can see, I used Blackberry Bliss for the base card and the square layering pieces.

The other touch of Blackberry Bliss on the card is on the rhinestones - I coloured them with the Blackberry Bliss Dark Stampin' Blend!  So good - I truly love how we have all these co-ordinating products.

AWH Colour Creations - Bermuda Bay

Hi again!

AWH Colour Creations Blog Header

Welcome to Week 3 of the Art With Heart Stampin' Up! Team - Colour Creations Showcase.

If you are just joining me, this week our creation divas are exploring one of my favourite Stampin' Up! colours - Bermuda Bay! We would love you to check out everyone's work and leave us some feedback in our comments.

If you would like to see all of our team's Bermuda Bay creations, go to gorgeous Cathy's blog here and get all the links there.

So let's take a look at Bermuda Bay!

In our 2020 January to June Handmade for You Mini Catalogue, our Birthday Bonanza product suite had one of the most gorgeous colour combinations. One of those colours has since retired, but is easily substituted to still give you a lovely rainbow of six beautiful shades to work with.

These colours sing to me of ocean reefs, fish and coral. So it's no wonder I pulled the stamp set Seaside Notions off my shelf.

Stampin' Up Bermuda Bay Seaside Notions (1)

For this card front I did something slightly different. I literally drowned the reverse side of the Thick Whisper White card stock with water and Bermuda Bay Ink from the Ink refill and let it soak through.

Stampin' Up Bermuda Bay Seaside Notions (6)

I love the new embossing folder - Seabed and I enjoyed stamping, watercolouring and fussy cutting these cute images. A bit of ribbon, some gems from the Holiday Rhinestones pack and half a dozen Stampin' Dimensionals are enough to make these cards pop with all the lovely textures.

For the next card, I removed the yellows and oranges and just stuck with the Bermuda Bay and Coastal Cabana.

Stampin' Up Bermuda Bay Seaside Notions (3)

Again, that embossing folder is sublime!

I've stamped all the images with Bermuda Bay and just done a very light watercolour wash with Coastal Cabana over them.

Stampin' Up Bermuda Bay Seaside Notions (4)

Whilst Bermuda Bay is not exactly Santorini Blue, I couldn't help thinking of a bit of Mediterranean home decor with this colour scheme too. I have recently acquired Country Home stamp set - to do rustic vintage style cards - but I was suddenly picturing a Bermuda Bay jug full of bright blooms on a white washed stone windowsill . . .

Stampin' Up Bermuda Bay Country Home (1)

Thank you to my Stampin' Up! demonstrator friends who cruised the Greek Islands last year for all your inspiring photos!

Stampin' Up Bermuda Bay Country Home (2)

In this card, I stamped the jug using Jet Black Stazon Ink onto Coastal Cabana card stock, then added shadows with Bermuda Bay ink. The jug is then cut by hand and popped up with a couple of Dimensionals.  I'm not sure why in this photo the flowers come out brilliant blue when on the card they are exactly the same colour as the jug - the joys of technology!

All of the products I have used for these three cards are shown below.

Please leave me a comment about which card is your favourite and why?

AWH Colour Creations - Basic Gray

Hi again!

AWH Colour Creations Blog Header

Welcome to Week 2 of the Art With Heart Team - Colour Creations Showcase.

If you are just joining me, this week our creation divas are exploring the Stampin' Up! staple colour - Basic Gray and helping you discover what an amazing, versatile colour it is!

At the very bottom of my post you will find all the links to all the creators, or if you get lost or a link is broken you can go back to gorgeous Cathy's blog here and get all the links there.

We would love you to check out everyone's work and leave us some feedback in our comments.

Ornate Garden Stampin' Up 1

I have chosen to use Basic Gray as the base card and the main mat layer (Ornate Layer Die frame) on my cards. The image and sentiment are also stamped with Basic Gray.  For such a dark gray, it is a truly versatile colour.  AND I have actually cased the card from page 1 of our brand new catalogue. The card in the catalogue is made with Just Jade, but I have switched it out for Basic Gray.

All the products I have used are in the thumbnail picture grid if you scroll down, but in summary I have used the Ornate Garden Suite and teamed it with Rococo Rose and some of the purples from the Stampin' Up! range - Highland Heather Stampin' Blends and Pretty Posy scallop linen ribbon.

The sentiment is from Butterfly Gala stamp set and the label die is from the Ornate Label Dies.

Ornate Layers and Rectangle Stitched Dies

I just love that one of the Stitched Rectangle Dies fits perfectly inside the Ornate Layer Die.

Ornate Garden Stampin' Up 2

How beautiful is the inside front of the card with that beautiful embossing? And don't forget to stamp inside too!

Ornate Garden Stampin' Up

Rococo Rose is probably my most used Stampin' Up! colour from the last 12 months and I was SOOOO pleased to see these scallop linen ribbons carry over into our new catalogue.

Ornate Garden Stampin' Up 3

Don't you just love all the textures and the simplicity of this card? And it could be used for so many different occasions.

If you would like to see what my Art With Heart friends have been making, off you go now to Cathy's blog.

Don't forget to leave me a comment, check out all the products I used in these projects, and if you get lost in looking for through the other projects, you can always come back here where the other links are at the bottom.

AWH Colour Creations - Balmy Blue

AWH Colour Creations Blog Header

The brand new 2020-2021 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue started today and it's time for a new journey through the beautiful Stampin' Up! colour families.

Every week the Art With Heart Stampin' Up! team will explore another colour from the Stampin' Up! range. This week's Colour Creation Showcase is Balmy Blue!

Stampin' Up! Classic Color Combo

www.katlodesigns.com

I've selected one of my favourite colour combinations and teamed it with some new products to show you how fresh and lovely Balmy Blue is with just black and white.

Using the ORNATE LAYERS DIES from the Ornate Garden Suite I have cut several layers in each of the three colours, keeping the smallest layer white to be the main front panel. Base cards are Basic Black and Balmy Blue, so make sure you cut extra Ornate Layers Dies in Whisper White for the inside of the cards.

Ornate Layer Dies Balmy Blue cards Stampin Up 5

Because the dies are so detailed, I want the rest of my card to be just understated elegance. I selected two new stamp sets - Comfort and Hope along with Tasteful Touches to provide some soft background stamping in Balmy Blue and Black.

Ornate Layer Dies Balmy Blue cards Stampin Up

I stamped the leaves from Comfort and Hope onto vellum with Balmy Blue ink and set it aside to dry, and I cut some leaf outline shapes using the sprig die from the Wild Rose Dies and also a vine like die from Detailed Bands Dies in Basic Black card for some extra layering detail.

Ornate Layer Dies Balmy Blue cards Stampin Up 2

It's amazing how much depth is created with a little layered stamping of elements and some die cut pieces.

Ornate Layer Dies Balmy Blue cards Stampin Up 1

The sentiment stamp is from Butterfly Gala stamp set. With the change over to a new catalogue I will now be looking for some new greeting stamp sets, as I seem to chosen in the past lots that are now retired!

The stamped greeting is cut with a simple shape from the Ornate Frames Dies. I was going to also do the ornate frame that matches perfectly to layer with this piece, cutting it out in vellum - but it was going to become too fussy. Sometimes you've just got to know when to stop, right?

Don't forget to make the inside of your card just as pretty as the outside!

Thanks for stopping by to visit Katlo Designs blog. I would love it if you scroll right down to the bottom and leave me some feedback - either about my cards, or about what you are most looking forward to getting from the new catalogue!
