Tomorrow!! Big day for Katlo Designs! Firstly there is the gorgeous new catalogue starting, and secondly its blog hop day in the world of Scrapbooking, with the first blog hop of the year by the One Little Word class students.

What on earth is that?

One Little Word is an online Scrapbooking Class, led by Ali Edwards of Big Picture Classes. It's a year long journey of discovery with each student focussing on just one word and allowing it to have action in their lives. I am participating in the class for my second year (did it in 2011) and am very exciting to be catching up with so many talented, creative people from every corner of the globe. You have the chance to meet some of them too, via the OLW 2013 blog hop which kicks of around 11pm Australian Eastern time tomorrow. Hope you can join us for an inspiring journey. See you late tomorrow night!

And don't forget, if you do require anything out of the Holiday Traditions Mini Catalogue, you have to make it happen, today :o)

Sale-a-bration cards

Hi everyone,

Hope you're staying safe from bushfires or flooding rains. This sunburnt country sure is giving us a dose of everything this month and my heart goes out to anyone directly affected by our wild summer weather.

Over the last week or so, I've had a bit more of a play with the Sale-a-bration products - loving the colours in the Designer Series Paper and ribbon & button pack, and wanted to try a new technique too.

These two cards are done with the same Sycamore Street Designer Series Paper, Pool Party and Calypso Coral Cardstock and some masking with the actual stamping, as well as some masking with the framelit. Loving trying out that new technique.

The card on the left with Indigo Island Cardstock & ink uses the World Treasures Stamp set, and the lighter card on the right uses stamps from a set called Take Care, and the Hello greeting stamp from the Pretty Petites Stamp set, punch with the Petite Curly Label punch.

The Tangerine Tango ribbon & button are from the Sycamore Street Ribbon & Button Pack - a Sale-a-bration free gift.

I've also been lucky enough to have a play with some of the sneak peak products from the new Seasonal Mini Catalogue which comes out on the 1st February.  I'll show you some of those fun cards in the coming week too.

Well, once again, stay safe!

Catch you soon,

Kathryn

Which Sale-A-Bration Product?

Having trouble choosing which free Sale-A-Bration product to get with your $100 order?

Well, this isn't going to help because in these three projects I used THREE Sale-A-Bration stamp sets, and Sale-A-Bration Simply Sent kit and some ribbon from the Sale-A-Bration Ribbon & Button Pack . . . so you're just going to have to spend $500.00 and get all five of these free items LOL!!

Sale-a-bration projectsFor the two cards and the topper on the Bag-A-Lope, I have started with a base card from the Happy Hello Simply Sent Kit. The kit makes 8 cards & matching envelopes. Colours in the kit are Pool Party, Daffodil Delight and Basic Grey and the kit includes beautiful custom cut printed cards & envelopes, die cut cardstock stickers, rhinestones and bakers twine.

Each of the stamp sets I have used is a Sale-A-Bration freebie. The elephant comes from a cute set called Patterned Occasions, The flowers on the Bag-A-Lope and stamped randomly (very subtle) in the background of the elephant card are from a stamp set called Madison Avenue which matches the Sale-A-Bration DSP pack Sycamore Street.

The Indigo Island ribbon on the elephant card is from the Sycamore Street Ribbon & Button Pack - such beautiful ribbon!!

And on the big yellow blossom card, I have stamped a floral image from Bloomin' Marvelous another set of Sale-A-Bration freebies.

There are NINETEEN products in total for you to choose from when selecting your Sale-A-Bration freebie. What will your next project include?

Mocha Morning cards

Hi All,

Back again with more of last year's Mystery Box contents to show you! For February we had to make 4 cards, using our chosen paper pack (I chose Mocha Morning Specialty DSP) and the cards had to be for different occasions.

My first two cards were easel cards. For the next two cards I wanted to do at least one masculine card, and I also wanted to use the gorgeous clock stamp from the set Timeless Portrait.

Here's what I came up with :

Mocha Morning Tri-fold card

Mocha Morning Tri-fold card 1

This time the black embossing powder came out - don't you love that clock?!?

Mocha Morning Tri-fold card 2

These projects were to be kind of special, so I didn't want to go for just a normal open & close card, which is why I chose the two easel cards to start with, and then this one is a quite simple tri-fold card.

It wasn't particularly masculine though - the scalloped borders saw to that, LOL! So my final card of the four had to steer away from frills and be more plain in design.

I really struggled to come up with something so in the end, I "cased" a card from Dianne Dunk which I really loved, using the tie stamp from the set Best Dad Ever. I added another layer to the background and switched the papers around, but I have used the same stamp set, colours and layout that Di used.

I forgot to take a photo of it, but the inside of the card has a Very Vanilla panel with an embossed greeting in the centre of it. Oh, and another thing I did for all these cards was make the envelopes match!

I guess you're beginning to wonder what the project was for the next month? Well, I'll be back to show you that soon too!

See you then!

Easel Card - World Treasures

Hi again,

Here's another easel card I made for the Twelve Month Mystery Box Challenge.  This one also uses stamps from World Treasures stamp set and paper from Mocha Morning Specialty Designer Series Paper Pack (now retired).

World Treasures Easel Card 1

The peacock stamp is embossed with gold, silver and Early Espresso Embossing Powders, and hand cut around the tail feathers.

The greeting stamp from my most used stamp set "Curly Cute" is embossed with Early Espresso Embossing Powder too. You know, I hardly did any heat embossing in the last couple of years - and yet that was what made me fall in love with stamping in the first place! It creates such a beautiful finish on the projects and I am so happy that Stampin' Up! have been introducing more and more colours to our range of embossing powders.

But I guess you'd like to see what the card looks like when it's open and standing up?

World Treasures Easel Card 3

World Treasures Easel Card 2

So many of my favourite products here - the Antique Brad, Soft Suede card and Early Espresso Ink, that gorgeous Paper Doily Sizzlit which works a treat now I know to put waxed kitchen paper with it!

I'l be back tomorrow with two more cards that I created with these papers and colours, for the second month of the 2012 Mystery Box challenge.

p.s. For all of you ladies who ordered products from Weeks 1 to Week 4 of the Clearance Rack Blitz, the final Week 4 items arrived by post yesterday and I had a new Eftpos machine delivered here about an hour ago, so I will be endeavouring to catch up with you all shortly to organise delivery and payment.  Thanks so much for supporting this amazing promotion, lots of you ladies got yourselves some great bargains and it was lovely for me to hear from so many of you over the normally fairly quiet Christmas period. Enjoy your new goodies!

Kathryn

Happy New Year!

Hi everyone and welcome to a whole new stamping year!

Did you get to have a break over the Christmas New Year period? And if so, did you manage to find any crafting time?

My work closed down for three weeks, but with all the family get togethers and things we had to do around the house, along with a short break away, I managed to squeeze in just two stamping days. They were very productive and fun days though!

I've been dying to get back into the swing of things and share some more creations with you. So here we go! Ready for some creative inspiration?

Mocha Morning Flocked Easel Card

As you know, last year I participated in the Twelve Month Mystery Box Challenge hosted by a group of my fellow Stampin' Up! demonstrators (one of the delights of meeting so many crafty people since I joined Stampin' Up!).

This card was one of the projects I made for our first monthly prompt which was to make four different cards for different occasions, but using the same papers and sort of creating a bit of a theme for the year.

This is an easel card with the front of the card scored on the diagonal, and the embossed flowers on the inside of the card used to "stand" it up. (Thanks Elaine Hannam for sharing the template with me!).

Mocha Morning Flocked Easel Card 1

The Designer Series Paper Mocha Morning was my favourite DSP from last year's Stampin' Up! catalogue - I am so glad I got an extra pack to see me through the year!

Mocha Morning Flocked Easel Card 2

The heat embossed stamped flower images are mounted onto the card with Stampin' Dimensionals so they act as a little catch for the folded portion of the card to rest against so it always stands up. Very nifty little trick!

There are three more cards from that month to show you, along with all the other projects which went into my Mystery Box for 2012. So, be sure to stick around over the next few days to see what else I created with the Mocha Morning DSP and my favourite Stampin' Up! stamps.

See you then!
