Not Just CardMaking!

What is this?

Owls & Trinket 001

Those Aussie and New Zealand Stampin' Up! Demonstrators who attended the recent Stampin' Up! Convention in sunny Melbourne, will no doubt realise straight away that this is 3/4's of a roll of mini glue dots, being wound onto a full roll of mini glue dots to free up the strong inner core for use in a very cute project.

WARNING : unless you are an SU! demonstrator, DO NOT try this at home!  And if you are an SU! demonstrator, do not try this after a glass of wine!  Heaven only knows how many glue dots I had to remove from my clothing and hair after attempting this!  Thank you darling Shelli Gardner (our Stampin' Up! CEO) for reminding me that my stampin' addiction is an illness and an obsession!

Those of you who weren't at Convention are probably wondering what magical little project could possibly be so enticing, that one would risk life and limb and possible complete entrapment in a contortionistic yoga position by rolls of mini glue dots gone feral??

Well, using out delicious designer series papers and a lovely new stamp set called "Clearly For You", Shelli demonstrated a lovely little trinket box that any horder of brads, buttons and ribbons would be proud to be the owner of!  Here's my version :

Owls & Trinket 014

Owls & Trinket 012

Owls & Trinket 010

Notice how the little string comes out from the bottom and loops around the rhinestone brad to hold the lid closed?

Shelli used the Circles #2 Big Shot Die to create her base and lid, but as I am yet to add that die to my collection, I used the 2 3/8" Scallop Circle for mine. The whole lot is finished with a liberal spray of Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint.

Don't you love it!

Don't forget, today is the very last day for May Deals of the Week, and also, our Hostess Extra Extra Promotion is now in full swing, with lots of workshops booked to take place in June.  If you don't want to miss the fun and excitement, let me know quickly as I only have 2 dates left in June!

Happy inking!

Kathryn

Stamping Weekend!

Good morning everyone!

It's a miserable drizzly morning out there, and what could be better to look forward to than pretty much a whole weekend of stamping???  That's what's on my schedule this weekend!  I am about to go back out to my stamping room and finish off a few bits and pieces that I have been putting together over the last week or two, then I need to pack my car and head over to Eltham for Josie's Biggest Afternoon Tea.

I TOTALLY adore these kinds of events where I get to meet heaps of new people, catch up with old friends that I haven't seen for ages and, most importantly (!!) SHARE WHAT I LOVE!! Yep, that's right, I will be stamping and sharing my love of stamping with a whole new bunch of people. I am so looking forward to it!

Here's a couple of little things I have been making for this afternoon :

Cards 019a

Little Monsters with the Owl Punch!

Hope Cards

And some sweet thinking of you type cards with the Strength & Hope stamp set and the Clearly for You stamp set.

When today is all done and dusted, then I have to do it all again for a workshop that I am doing tomorrow afternoon!  Am I the luckiest person on the planet, to be able to spend so much time doing what I love, and sharing it with others?  I think so!!

Well, I hope you all have a great weekend, staying in where it's warm, and hopefully getting some ink on your fingers too!

Kathryn.

Josie's Biggest Afternoon Tea!

My dear friend Josie is a breast cancer survivor with a heart the size of China (is there anything bigger??) and this coming Saturday I have the absolute privilege of having a market stall at her "Australia's Biggest Morning Tea" event at Eltham.

You NEED to be there! Josie ran a similar event last year which was awesome, and this year is panning out to be even bigger and better, with a raffle, silent auction, market stalls, second-hand book stall and a totally SCRUMPTIOUS afternoon tea.

All money raised goes of course to the Cancer Council of Australia Biggest Morning Tea fundraising campaign and supporters have the chance to win a 7 night holiday in Bali or Hong Kong!

Details???  Where : Woodbridge Preschool, 3 Novello Court, Eltham

When : Saturday 28th May, 2pm-6pm

What : Afternoon Tea, market stalls and prizes - bring the family.

Entry : By donation to the Cancer Council's Biggest Morning Tea!

I will be demonstrating some of the lovely things from our gorgeous Autumn Winter Mini Catalogue and here's a little sample to whet your appetite!

Little Birds Card

This bookmark and card made with the Clearly For You stamp set, were inspired by the beautiful Shelli Gardner, CEO of Stampin' Up! who demonstrated the bookmark at our recent Stampin' Up! Convention in Melboure.  If you'd like to see larger images, please check them out on my Facebook business page by clicking here.

See you on Saturday at Eltham!!

Strength & Hope

For my Stampin' Up! Convention swaps, I used a beautiful stamp set called "Strength and Hope" from our Autumn / Winter Mini Catalogue.  This delightful set of four stamps retails for $35.95 (woodmount) or $28.95 (clearmount).

Stampin' Up! is donating $2 from each sale of this set to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation. BCRF is dedicated to preventing breast cancer and finding a cure in our lifetime by funding clinical and translational research worldwide. For more information about BCRF, visit www.bcrfcure.org

Strength & Hope

I made my own coat-hangers with craft wire and used Whisper White card and Marina Mist card and inkpad.  To get the larger scallops for the dress, I put the card through the Big Shot using the Bigz Clear Scallop Square Die.  I pre-cut the dress template from a sketch onto Confetti White card which is a little thicker than our Whisper White.

Strength & Hope 2

And of course there are some of our adhesive Jewels for the finishing touch!

I am attending Josie's Biggest Morning Tea Fundraiser for the Cancer Council next Saturday 28th May as a stall holder, and will be focusing on this really lovely stamp set, as it fits so well with the theme.

If you'd like to know more about the Strength & Hope Dress cards, or about Josie's fundraiser, please don't hesitate to ask!

Elegant Soiree - a Perfect Welcome Home

I haven't made too many housewarming or congratulations on your new home cards, in fact, I don't really remember ever making one. So I was really keen recently to make a couple - to increase my repertoire, use a stamp set I haven't touched for a long time, AND to have two cards to give to TWO of my gorgeous girl friends who are MOVING HOUSE!

Many of my regular customers will have the totally cute GOOD NEIGHBOURS stamp set from Sale-a-bration 2010.  I have been dying to use it again, it's soooo cute!  I wanted to use patterened paper as a background, preferably with swirls or flourishes that could double as hills and roads in a mini-town or map feel. I went through my whole pile of current Stampin' Up! Designer Series Papers and as soon as I looked at Elegant Soiree, I thought "Hmmmmm, I can work with those colours!!!!!!!"

House cards

I have teamed the paper and house stamps with the retired greeting set "Once Upon a Time" which I think has the perfect lines for people who have just bought their very first home, or for a princess who has just moved into her own palace!

House cards 2

The ink and background card colours are Very Vanilla, Soft Suede, Early Espresso & Crumb Cake with the feature houses stamped in More Mustard and Cherry Cobbler.

House cards 4

I am so happy with how these turned out, and loved digging out these two old stamp sets to team with the gorgeous Elegant Soiree DSP.  If you were moving, you could make a similar card to send out to friends and family with "New Address" on it.

Did you know that Stampin' Up! are running Deals of the Week throughout May?  There are some real bargains to be had - and this week there are some stamp sets that are up to 40% off!  I will be placing an order, so if you'd like to grab a bargain too, give me a call to add your items to the list!  Here's the link to what's on sale click here

Cheers, Kathryn

Classes - Term 2

Please see my class page for an update.

Due to Tony and I having a commitment to help out with the Bushfire Recovery Efforts on the first Monday of every month, and due to low attendances, I have changed Tuesday night classes from the first Tuesday to the first Saturday to see if it is convenient for more people.

This takes effect immediately, with the class scheduled for tonight, being moved to 2pm this Saturday 7th May.  If you do have a preferred time slot or day for classes, please don't hesitate to leave a comment as I am happy to try and work in with you.

Don't forget, if you are planning to attend a class, please let me know in advance :o)
