December 2009

Twas two days before Christmas . . .

Twas two days before Christmas, I'm still stuck at work,

My desk is in chaos, I'm going beserk.

The spirit of Christmas is severley diminished,

The presents aren't wrapped and the cards are not finished!

The rellies are arriving, the house is all messed,

Am I having a whinge? No, my life is SO blessed!

I have stamps and papers and ribbons and ink,

Friends that surround me and good health (I think!),

To those who are a part of this life of mine,

I hope that your Christmas is truly sublime!

May Santa be generous, your food be delicious,

Stay safe and happy, to all of you, "Best Wishes"!!

Season of Joy j

I have made this years 70+ Christmas cards using Season of Joy stamp set and Old Olive and Riding Hood Red card stock, ink and ribbon from Stampin' Up! My card design (although not exactly the same) was inspired by one made by the talented Johanna Sherry which I received in a swap.

Hope you have a very safe and happy Christmas and New Year, and I look forward to catching up with many of you during Sale-a-bration!

Hugs, Kathryn

Mary had a little lamb . . .

The very clever ladies in the Art with Heart Stampin' Up! team have been experimenting with Punch Art.  When you have so many gorgeous and versatile punches to choose from, it's good to learn different ways of using them.  I have lots of punches, but normally use them for exactly what they were designed for. For example, a flower is a flower, a tag is a tag.  I have been very inspired to learn to look at them differently and to see a tag as a robot's body and a flower can become many things.

Here is what I finally created after lots of playing :

I have used the Five petal flower punch and everyone's favourite Scallop Circle Punch. I created some ATC's as well.

I also created a pink version of the first card.

How cute are those sheep! Mary sure is a lucky little shepherdess! You can learn how to make one of these cute sheep  - ask me how today. Email [email protected]

Bold and bright birthday cards!

I had a play with the "Just Jawing" stamp set a few months ago and finally got around to finishing a pile of bright simple cards.  This is not a set I was thinking of buying for myself, but I am so excited about the finished cards - I had to share them with you.

Just Jawing cards f

Maybe it's because I share a house with lots of teenagers who are always looking for last minute birthday cards - they seem to be quite fond of skulls and glitter and the like.  This lot should take care of lots of next year's birthday card requirements for us!

But what am I going to do with this stuff my true love??

Easy, start by cutting the three scallop circles in half.

Then fold each piece in half to find the halfway point.

Next, place a glue dot on the back of the top petal and twist the whole semi-circle around your finger to form a neat cone, using the glue dot to secure it.

You will make 6 of these neat cones, then punch out a piece of red card stock using the brand new 4.4cm (1-3/4") circle punch from the summer mini catalogue and use more glue dots to start attaching the cones to the card circle one at a time.

Now use your paper piercing tool to poke a hole right through the centre and then attach a gorgeous sparkling green rhinestone brad from Stampin' Up! through the hole.

This finished product can be attached to the front of a card as a luxurious embellishment. Or if you'd like to take it a step further, repeat all the above steps to make an exact copy, then add a piece of old olive ribbon to the back of one piece using loads of double sided adhesive to hold it in place.

Stick your two pieces together matching the "petals" and you have an adorable tree hanging ornament - or maybe a pair of earrings for the work Christmas-do!!
