A Lesson in Delightful DSP
July 19, 2009
I'll be the first to admit I am a stamper. Not a scrapbooker, not a quiller, not an origami-ist - A STAMPER! Every project I do has stamping, inks, rubber, more inks . . . that is until yesterday! I had some last minute bit & pieces I wanted to make for a display for my Christmas in July class.
I recently came by a gorgeous metal twirly mug holder which I thought would be perfect for hanging little 3D dangly paper-craft objects from - and what better occasion to start with than Christmas in July. I envisioned the mug holder laden with Choc Chip, Old Olive, Kiwi Kiss, Riding Hood Red and Real Red decorations all hanging gleefully and signalling the time to start thinking about how many Christmas cards we need to make in the next 5 months.
So out comes the gorgeous"Bella Rose" Designer Series Paper (DSP) and the "I Wish" Simply Scrappin' Kit which I have had sitting on my desk for several months untouched, along with several punches, Rhinestone Brads and co-ordinating card stock, and suddenly the creativity is flowing - and NO stamps!!
Enough talking - this is what I made :
You can see that I also used Holiday Treasures DSP and the papers just co-ordinate so beautifully with the die-cut adhesive labels in the Simply Scrappin' Kit.
I can't believe I had so much fun and the results are soooo gorgeous (if I do say so myself) without using one rubber stamp!! I love the DSP in our current catalogue (and in the new spring mini which is out less than two weeks). If you'd like to see more cards made with "I Wish" Simply Scrappin' Kit, make sure you check out my good stampin' buddy Sue Madex's blog as she has also been experimenting with it lately - nice one Sue!!
That's enough for now, back with some more pics from yesterday's event soon!
Kathryn.
