Day Six - Twelve Days of Christmas

On the sixth day of Christmas, my true love sent to me, six silver wings all mixed up and wanting somewhere to go!

At our Stampin' Up! Annual Convention in May-June, we were shown a gorgeous Christmas banner made by the very talented and ever so nice Beth Stewart. You can see the original  here.

For my Christmas Extravangza, I wanted to recreate it, and so one night when there were only going to be four of us at Stamp Club, I put the girls to work on a production line, cutting and embossing enough pieces for four of us to each have a banner; angel bodies, letter panels, birds and of course six silver wings each - and it took us the full two hours to cut all the pieces for four banners!

After the ladies took their pieces home, I sat up late, putting mine all together, and I DO love it! Thank you Beth for such amazing inspiratation!

I am busy today cutting out pieces for a stack more angel banners, as people love it so much!

An Easter Workshop

Hi Everyone!  Feels like ages since I saw you, but it was only a week ago!

Today I have a special little project to show you, that one of my newest team members, Samantha West is doing at a workshop today. She got lots of ideas from all the generous, sharing ladies on ESAD (Extremely Special Australasian Demonstrators) and then looked at what products we had between us to see what we could make. The punch art bunny card Samantha is using for her make & take project today comes with very special thanks to Marion Benfield, another Stampin' Up! demonstrator who very kindly sent Samantha the instructions - how nice are our fellow stampers??? I love it the way we all care and share!

Anyway, here's the two projects we put together for Samantha to take with her today.

The roller wheel  on the easter card is the valentine one from our Summer Mini Catalogue - so sweet! And there's just a bit of spongeing and highlighting with the white gel pen and the Sahara Sand Marker & Ink on the bunny. I adore Sahara Sand - not too dark and a kind of warmish pale grey.

The basket is created from four Scallop Envelopes cut using the Big Shot, and a handle created using the lovely Ribbon Lace punch. The stamped images are from Everybunny Stamp Set and have just a tiny touch of water colouring.

How cute is that chickee? The colours are Certainly Celery, Calypso Coral and Daffodil Delight.

My very best wishes for your workshop today Samantha! I wish I could be there to help. I do hope your guests love these little projects as much as we do and that you have a lovely time!

Happy AUSTRALIA DAY!!

Congratulations to all our "New Australians" who receive their Citizenship Certificates in Australia Day ceremonies across the country today.  We had the pleasure of attending such a ceremony in our nation's capital, Canberra, in 2009 - it was such a buzz!  (or maybe that was the 21 canon salute, or the FA-18 flyover!!).

To celebrate today, I have gone hunting through some OLD photos and dug up a favourite project I did in 2005.  I was working on lots of Altered Book projects at the time, and this one had the theme favourite places.  The month's project had to include "windows" in the page, so I embedded acetate sheets between several pages and created some windows which I stamped one of our favourite national emblems onto - yes, the kangaroo!

Anyway, here's what it looked like!

The words are just a couple of verses from the very moving Dorothea Mackellar Poem, My Country, one of my all-time favourites.

Don't you love that last line . . . I know to which brown country my homing thoughts will fly . . . ?

It's like when you walk down those long corridors at Heathrow after a month in Europe and suddenly you see row upon row of flying kangaroos - yes the tails of dozens of Qantas jets, and with tears in your eyes, you realise . . . you're going HOME!!  Home to the best country on earth!
